That hopefully will erase the awful tennis we just witnessed from the women's game.

Nishikoro is handing it to Nadal with his uncanny returns. Nishikoro leads 4-1.

Agree.

Nadal also not able to generate long rallies, either because of Nadal's own errors, or Nishikori's play.

Nashikoro on the verge of another break-point. He is playing out of his mind. I was impressed with his match against Ferrer and he is taking Nadal to the woodshed.

seems rafa fans are getting to feel what fed fans felt now, watching the decline.

looks like this might be a rapid descent, though i simply CANNOT accept what I'm seeing from rafa this year as anything but an anomaly.

If he wasn't playing this way on Clay, I wouldn't be too surprised but this is shocking to see him play this poorly on Clay but watch him still win the FO

Yeah. I still think of this like the "regular season", while the majors in a best of five is like the playoffs.

I don't know if Nadal will win the FO Finals, but he should at least make a deep run, and only lose to a great player.

Probably my favorite Madrid match was in 2009, when Djokovic and Nadal played. They had a combined 5 match points, very exciting.

Lost in the "world is ending" Nadal talk is that Nishikori has taken a big step forward. He's a legitimate threat to finish in the top six this year. Heck, he looks a lot better than he did even this Spring, and remember that he played Nadal completely even in Melbourne.

He has to be considered a legitimate threat to win a major this year. That would have been unthinkable a couple of months ago.

nishikori is a threat for smaller titles, like halep

it would be a great accomplishment for nish to make a slam final once in his career

:agree: He is playing so much better. With his returns he can still go deep. He is still young and considering what he went through yesterday with Fererrer and still able to play at this high level against Nadal is clearly a reflection of his development.
