Agreed. Throw Ackley into that discussion as well. And stop with the BS that he cant mentally handle being at the top of the order. He has hit at every point in his life and was the #2 pick. You either can hit at the top of the order or your not a big leaguer.

I have more hope for Miller then Almonte since Miller showed a lot of good things last year. Almonte has never shown me anything, if by some miracle we send him down I dont think even think I want him starting in Tacoma. I have more hope for James Jones down there then Almonte.

but, but, but...ackley has such a HIGH CEILING!!!!!!!!

where's the fucking moron that kept spouting that stupidity again?

Sweet my pep talk woke up the offense. Or maybe it was Lloyd getting tossed.

Tried hard to blow it. Thankfully Rodney picked a good time to have one of his better outings.

Also the M's improved to 3-0 when Almonte sits. Pay attention Lloyd thats not a coincidence.

Nope, Smoak doesn't get a pass anymore. It's time to pull the plug. Almonte and Miller might still figure it out in their careers. Smoak is what he is.

I didn't say or suggest he gets a pass about anything. I said we have two starters that are so bad that Smoak and his woes aren't the worst thing they have to deal with. Almonte doesn't deserve to be on a major league team and neither does Miller. Both are under .200. By all means replace Smoak, but dump those other two off the lineup NOW.

At least we didn't blow the lead the one time we manage to put some runs on the board. Hope for another strong offensive performance tomorrow.

Smoak, while he'll never be a .300 hitter, has looked better in this early season. Right handed he's been ripping that left center gap and that HR he hit today was absolutely monstrous. If the guy can concentrate on using all of the field and being patient, he can be a .260 30HR 80RBI kind of player and I can live with that.

I'm the same with Ackley. Yes, both players have taken big dives in regard to their real/projected production, but like Smoak, if Ackley would simply concentrate on using the whole field and not try to pull everything, he can be a valuable guy.

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I'd rather see a little light where it is than have some blind ultimate mindset about these guys when they're still playing for us.

I am worried about the bullpen. I think guys were playing far above their ability for the early part of the season when we were surprised at how good the Pen looked. Medina and Furbush can't throw strikes, the Bartender and Rodney are always a heart attack. I pretty much only have confidence in Biemel and Farquhar at this point. We need Pryor back for a power arm.

Saunders needs to keep playing center and leading off and Almonte should go down. I have hope in Romero, who's been hitting the ball hard lately. Miller hopefully will keep pulling his head out of his ass after the win. He's been swinging at almost everything instead of zoning in on an area and laying off pitches outside of it.

All in all we're still learning how to be a solid team, which wouldn't let a 9-2 lead turn into a close game against possibly the worst team in the league. Still, I like seeing improvement, and given the state of the starting rotation, I'll take 2 games below .500 right now.

I may get hell for this, but I would take Altuve over Cano. I like how that jockey plays baseball.

I don't mean this as a racist comment in any way though it may sound that way, but we need a Latin SS. We use all these white guys there and they can't make a play on a ball they have to move either direction in.

Cano 2012-2014: 349 G 61 HR 217 RBI 12 SB 4 CS .311 BA .378 OBP .520 SLG 14.4 oWAR 2.8 dWAR
Altuve 2012-2014: 329 G 13 HR 99 RBI 79 SB 25 CS .287 BA .329 OBP .381 SLG 5.3 oWAR -1.7 dWAR

I understand you like Altuve's playing style, but Cano is by far the better player and it is not even remotely close.

I don't care what race the player is as long as they can play ball.

If you like paying for the past, then I have a great Pinto to sell you. Stats have a lot to do with lineups. Of course Cano's numbers will be better. If he played on the Astros all those years you would be saying, "That Cano kid is alright".

I don't either, but find a non-Latino SS who can field like a game changer. Not easy to do.
