Bills acquired RB LeSean McCoy in exchange for LB Kiko Alonso.

It's a stunning trade in a league bereft of them. The move gives new Bills coach Rex Ryan a centerpiece for his "ground-and-pound" offense, and reunites Alonso with his college coach in Chip Kelly. The Philadelphia Daily News' Paul Domowitch reported late last month that the Eagles were unlikely to keep Shady at his $11.95 million cap number. McCoy is coming off a year where he averaged just 4.2 yards per carry and was eased off goal-line duties, but remains one of the league's premier runners. He is still only 27 (in July). From a fantasy perspective, he remains a clear RB1. As for the Eagles, they now have a gaping hole at running back. For better or worse, Kelly is proving more than ready to exercise his new absolute control of the Eagles' roster.

I was surprised they just unloaded him.

Weird thing is, I dont really consider McCoy a 'ground-pound' type runner...

But trade is a stunner, no doubt about it. Was McCoy unhappy there? Is the Chip Kelly offense not the type he wants to be in? Or, the real thing is, he's not the type of runner Kelly wants?

I would have thought it would be ideal for his style, but it didnt really work out for him last year I guess.

My team has Jamaal Charles... remember the 2012 Chiefs offense?

QB's drive the offenses- even mediocre QB's. The Bills offense will still be bleh so long as EJ Manuel is there.

Absolutely, even more so in Today's NFL.

In general, if the Bills are involved in a trade, it's usually good for the Eagles. Jason Peters was a prime example.

They also totally fleeced the Bills last season, trading Bryce Brown to Buffalo for a conditional pick that wound up being a high fourth. This for a guy who was like the fourth string back behind Shady, Sproles and Chris Polk. I love me some Bills trades.

BTW, I am laughing on the floor reading that someone claimed Shady would lead a "ground and pound" attack. Have you seen the guy run? Elusive back for sure, elite skills in the open field, but he never pounded anyone in his life, he is a finesse runner.

:agree:

I don't know exactly how to feel about this yet, it all depends on how we finish out the off-season

Getting a very talented runner.

I think it will depend on how he's utilized.

We will find another RB do what Westbrook and McCoy did to the Cowboys over the years. No worries!

You better or you'll regret this move for a LONG time.

Lovin' all (most) Eagles fans turning their backs to Shady. Lol

This is a great deal for BOTH teams. Eagles get cap space and a rock star (if healthy) LB. Bills turn Spiller into McCoy.... and yes, Kiko's good, but we were BETTER last year without him, than two years ago with him. So to those laughing at the Bills, I really don't get it.

Philly fans tend to get excited and assume with the best fan bases.
I think Buffalo did pretty good in this deal

I am not a fan of this trade for the Bills. Kiko is a very good young cost controlled player. Trading him for a RB with an inflated salary when you have no answer at QB, seems like a waste of assets. If you don't have at least a "game manager" type QB at the helm, trading for one of the better RB(s) isn't going to get you to the next level.

Buffalo just spent 1/3 of their available cap space on a RB who really doesn't fit the mold of the type of RB they need for a Def first & pound the rock type of offense. I now expect Buffalo to sign Hoyer.

LeSean McCoy was hurting the eagles. His terrible tips really hurt the eagles image.

I agree it's too much for a RB on the downside of his career Ck2K made the same excuses that people did for McCoy did last year. Also there are reports he isn't happy and will make a problem for the Bills so that means they will end up trading him away for like a 4th in about 2 months.

So, is Rex Ryan going to be running an offense that fits McCoy like Chip did? Makes no sense.

Ironic if the Eagles sign Spiller, who would IMO work really well in that offense. He runs like a cheetah, and he has good ball catching skills.

Kiko Alonso was just rookie of the year two years ago.

Does not make sense based on what type of offense Rex runs.

Yeah. One of the best RB of the last five years doesn't fit a run heavy offense. :noidea:
Shady is YOUNGER than Spiller....and doesn't sprain his ankle every 40th carry.

They are basically the same player, Shady just does it better and for longer.

Spiller can't be a good fit where Shady isn't.

Yeah, uhhh, it is the running game that will be run. It is probably going to be a totally different type of rushing offense.

There are reasons why RBs are not typically paid what McCoy is paid.

Just saying.

I'm sure Rex will have the Bills just as screwed up as the Jets in no time. It's the Ryan way.

Trust me. McCoy can play in Rex's offense.

Like I said, good deal both ways.
