His playoff numbers are slightly worse, it’s mainly about playing Lebron every year where they fell apart. He will have the best coach over him so that could help but guess what...he follows Lebron to the West. Life really sucks for him other than making $30M a year lolzzz
It’s more just going up against even semi-competent defending (see his series vs. Indiana 2 years ago). He’s good for beating up on Eastern bums, no doubt. He’s bloody terrible once anybody who understands defense gets up in his shit.

And Lebron's still out there, like you said haha.

If you just tore the whole thing down for all these Laker assets
1. Pouty Aldridge who mails in a 35 win season
2. Dejounte Murray getting infected with the malaise and losing culture

If you add enough to keep competitive
1. Aldridge + Derozan getting you 52 wins
2. Dejounte Murray improving and making that big leap while still winning

The SPURS entire plan is to build Murray into the next big star.
He is already better and younger than any of the players the Lakers offered.

Why fuck that up? Why scrap the entire Murray plan after he finally breaks through and makes an All-NBA defense team.

All what lakers assets?

The only asset they were going to give them is Ball.

You would have a better point if they were able to get 2 of 3 but that was never happening.

I'm starting to think Pop pretty much dumped Kawhi up to the Raps just for spite...and also still managed to get a proven all-star caliber player in return.

And I bet if there were an NBA team in Alaska he would've sent him there instead.

Murray isnt better than Ingram. He doesn’t have a shot yet. Ingram is a year younger than him. I thought they offered Ingram in one deal....

I don't see how Spurs got better, they downgraded from their best player gave up their 2nd best defender and hurt their wing depth and added a 4th maybe 3rd big to the rotation.

They were already without their best player, and by all indications were never going to really have him back.

Comparing the 2017-18 Spurs to the the current Spurs, they got a lot better, imo.

Leonard played 9 games......and I'm pretty sure Green was one of their better defenders and he did play more than Leonard. And Walker will be a rookie.

The Spurs' record with Kawhi wasn't that great. The season they had was basically without Kawhi. Green was one of their best defenders though. Walker fell to the Spurs, that kid's going to be good.

I really don't understand how this is even a debate.

Assuming Kawhi plays, that first round pick will be good
It is 99% golden barring a complete and utter unforeseen collapse by Toronto.

I dont see any way Toronto (beating up the east bad teams) cannot finish with at least 53 wins
They won 59 games with Derozan instead of Kawhi
There are so many bad eastern teams that they will fall into lots of wins with Kawhi/Lowry.

Kawhi needs to show he can play. He is going to play hard and get them at least a top 12 record.
And if Kawhi cannot play because he is really damaged, then the Spurs won anyway.

The TOP 20 protection was for Toronto, just in case Kawhi was injured or refuses to play hard and a horrible unforeseen meltdown season happens.

Both sides expect the pick to be good.

Far from a lock he goes to the Lakers next summer.

Definitely. But if he wasn't going to be traded to the Lakers, this is the next best outcome. I feel a lot better about the Lakers chances of getting him as an FA than I would if he had gone to Philly or Boston.
