This is a huge series. The Rangers open the series a half game behind the Blue Jays for the last wild card spot.

I would like to see Heaney get a chance at a save in one of the last couple of games in this series.

So reflecting on 911 and regardless of your politics I remember watching Pres Bush nailing his pitch to home plate full off the mound and it still gets to me

Baseball is America sport and America does not function as it should without it.

My son was in high school and played in a small orchestra and I went to hear him play right after 911 and unbeknownst to me they played God Bless America and I could barely keep it together

Except that is not good. We need to start winning series again and hope maybe a guy like Heaney can help in the pen.

Heaney has pitched in 165 games in 11 years only 12 of those in a relief role. I expect in a short term role as a long reliever he might be some what effective over a short period of time but I don’t see him being solution to our bullpen or as a closer. We’re stuck with him next season at either 13M or 20M until the trade deadline and if we eat more than half of what would be left of his contract.

I think Eckersly started twice that many games before becoming a closer. He made a pretty good closer, I believe.

Bochy thinks our board will become bored without Smith to harp about. He is just trying to keep it lively in here.

That’s 1 out of how many? I’ve seen nothing in his 12 relief appearances that makes me feel the “Eckersly” effect
