I honestly don't think anybody really wanted him. Nobody will pick up the 5th year option and nobody will extend him. Good for Pittsburgh in that it doesn't cost them more than a cup'o'coffee to field 2 QBs as both QBs combined are only going to cost 5 mil or whatever. So they keep spending their money on the defense and hope the offense just improves enough that the defense isn't run into the ground. I don't know but we will see. Definitely expecting the Steelers F.O. to be looking at drafting a QB prospect at some point in the mid rounds or at least looking toward next year. Neither of these guys will be around for very long, imo. But they have to try because all they had was 2 back-up caliber guys before.

I would actually not be surprised to see Pittsburgh make a move on Penix. He could benefit from a year of sitting (and allowing to fully heal). Yes he'd be a little old (25) if he started in 2025, but that's not bad at all. No question on his arm talent, but he needs some pocket/footwork help and working on throws over the middle.

Bears never had a 1 pick QB in that timeframe. They did snag Mitch at 2, who was duly booed in his first public introduction at a Bulls game. Fields was actually the first QB I can remember since McMahon or Erik Kramer that wasn’t a punchline in one way or another. So much so that I’m still trying to figure out why fans fight for him so much. He has been meh.

Williams has a lot more expectation than Mitch did imo.

In other words, don’t you have better things to do like hit the closet and get a piece of foam cheese on your head?

I have seen them all. I have a feeling other people haven't. Nobody brings up his fumble issues or how his improv skills went downward in 2023. Now, I blame this mostly on losing talent.

Daniels is my QB1. The Bears could very well do that, but I think there's too much pressure for them to pick Williams.

We traded down…so no we didn’t have a #1 overall pick QB last year. This year we will.

52% of #1 pick qb’s have made the Super Bowl in their career. I’ll take those odds.
