Here's my article Brady 6 SB 4 wins. Montana 4 SB's 4 wins Brady better yards, more td's better winning %, better td/int ration. YPA is close and Montana had Rice to throw. Montana is also tied for 2nd with 4 one and dones, much better D and pre salary cap and free agency. I had Montana as no#1 before Sunday night, not anymore

Of course he has more TDs... He's been to more. But he's also lost more, Joe didn't lose any. Also didn't throw any INTs in the big game. Unlike Brady

Not to mention the cheating scandals that didn't surround Montana

Joe carried his team to the first championship and Jerry Rice was catching balls in college.

Joe Cool?

Joe Montana...

I think Brady and Montana are close and arguments can be made for either QB. The difference in my opinion is Montana had the GOAT and Brady for the most part has never had a great WR besides the one year with Randy Moss.

Ugh that is and will be the only time I will defend Tom Brady :gaah:

I don't really like to say that Player A is the GOAT because of rings or playoff accomplishments or any of that stuff. There have been several rule changes over the years, and you also have different systems that you have to account for.

That being said, if I had to choose between Brady and Montana, I am taking Montana.

Joe didn't get the luck that Brady has gotten in his career. Brady has basically rode a myriad of flukes and luck to six Super Bowls and four World Championships.

Also, there is a little thing called Spygate. Because of that, and the other thing I just mentioned, he's not even in my Top-10 all-time, let alone Top-5.

Debatable number 1, but sure fire number 2. And Brady vs Manning debate is officially dead.

Yes, after this SB win I think it will pretty much solidify him as the greatest of all time as much as it pains me to say as a Joe Montana fan and all the great things he did Brady has put together a more impressive career and might even add some more hardware if he can stay healthy.

This is such garbage, but can be easily disregard as just hate or jealousy. He's been more a victim of flukes in the SB then a benefactor. But whatever.

Manning has a solid regular season record, best ever. He still could enter the discussion, but he probably needs at least another ring, maybe two. His postseason resume is currently fairly abysmal.

yeah but also fluke loss in 07 and spygate was in 07 first game and they still went 18-1. You have to look at whole body of work. Again I had Montana as Goat before Sunday night. For a guy to take a team to 6 SB's with so many different teams is remarkable. If easy in free agency there would be more repeat winners, but Seattle was the first team in 10 years not only to repeat in SB but to make the playoffs

I know it's silly to ask but, does Brady get credit for the 2001 play off game against Pittsburgh or, does that go to Bledsoe?

In terms of resume when factoring in eras, imo its probably

1) Otto Graham
2) Joe Montana
3) Tom Brady
4) Peyton Manning

But its really hard to compare eras. Brady has 3 rings from the end of one short era (the 'lets not call pass interference era) and 1 ring from the pass happy era of today.

Peyton was gifted 1 ring from having a great defense but Bill Polian surrounded him with a finesse team in the 'lets not call pass interference era and he didnt have the right teams to win playoff games.

But if you have just one guy to win one game, I'm picking Aaron Rodgers or Steve Young over any of these guys.

I hate to say it, but Elway was clutch as well.

He was but if it wasn't for Terrell Davis - somehow not a Hall of Famer - then he'd have a worse legacy than Peyton.

Elway's stats stink up the joint, too. Thats why its so hard to compare eras. Elway would be much better in today's game. Elway's stats just make him look like some average QB
