He hasn't proven anything yet except that he tested well at the combine.
And your point is, what, exactly?

Why not take Barkley at #1 and then take the best QB available at #4?Man, if the Browns could hit on a stud QB at #1 and then pick up Barkley at 4 and he is as good as people think they could finally turn this whole thing around and win a Supe...Who am I kidding...that's not happening...Their QB will flame out and Barkley will probably tear his ACL be the Pats backup in 2 years
Why not take Barkley at #1 and then take the best QB available at #4?
Okay.Because QBs are going to go 1, 2 & 3 in the draft. They can have Barkley at 4 if they want him.

They're trying awfully hard to get him to appear to be a franchise QB. I like his personality, his size and arm strength are elite, and he is apparently really smart. It makes me think that with a redshirt year learning an offense, he could turn out to be pretty good, but the bust potential is high. I've been on the Darnold train for quite some time, and I still stand pat there. That he may be over hyped.

Okay. Why continue to push this fantasy when you know it's not going to happen? Even if the Jets didn't trade up to 3, it still wasn't going to happen.
Because QB is by far the most important position and not all QBs are built the same. Hopefully after 3 months of spending 20 hours a day looking at these players they have one they prefer. So take him.Why not take Barkley at #1 and then take the best QB available at #4?
So to summarize.
Browns brain trust:
* Didn't think Carson Wentz would ever be a top 20 QB a few drafts ago
* Now reportedly thinks Josh Allen is the first overall selection
* Owns the #4 pick, but instead of taking Allen there, would take him first over such locks as Quinton Nelson, Saquon Barkley and Bradley Chubb
Am I missing anything?
Why exactly would they take a guard at #1? They've already got arguably the best guard tandem in the NFL.So to summarize.

Question for Allen People: What does Allen do that's better than Kizer besides throw it farther?
I won't lie, I'd rather see them go Chubb/Barkley, draft Mason Rudolph in the 2nd, and give Tyrod a 2 year extension. Having Chubb and Myles Garrett at DE would be just horrifying, Barkley with Duke, Tyrod, and Hyde would make for a formidable offensive backfield, and Rudolph would have 2+ years to sit and learn, which for him, could be enough to turn him into a decent enough QB to win with. For the record, I don't believe they will take Allen. I think they will take Darnold, and still get Barkley at 4, because other people will take DEs or QBs.
But...hey it's the Browns, so the report can't be denied entirely.
And yes, I sometimes think someone other than a QB should go #1.
I agree with you 100%.So to summarize.
