Like Magic? Like Patrick? Like Larry? Like Wilt? Like Kareem? Heck, even Michael needed a team around him.

I would be interested in hearing your list of superstars who have done it alone. I legit can’t think of a single example.
Hakeem Olajuwon and LeBron James are the only ones I can think of

Find a superstar that gets guarded the way Curry does all game long and has done it alone. I'll wait.

I remember that play. He shot over all four defenders. Drained the long distance 3 and got fouled. Was really hoping the Warriors would have won. I like watching Steph on the court.

The Dream with the Rockets is a good example. He had good players, but no stars (Clyde was well past his prime).

LeBron, though, always had help when he won.

Bosch and Wade in Miami
Kyrie and Love in Cleveland
AD in LA (not much past them, but that is a hell of a 1-2)

But LeBron has been getting to the Finals every year, with some of those teams having nothing but him on them.

But yes the general rule is you need multiple big names and some luck to win titles. Point being Dirt is wrong about Steph

Don’t bother, Dirt just hates Curry irrationally.

kawhi in Toronto?

Possibly. But he did have on additional allstar that year in Lowry as well. On top of that they had a heavy rotation of great vets including Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka and Danny Green. That year also happened to be the breakout years for Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam as well.

That squad given one star player is easily a 2nd round playoff team. Kawhi made them a championship caliber squad.

He had at least as much help as Jordan...McHale, Parish, etc. The 1986 Celtics were a superteam, with Bill Walton coming off the bench.
The same team that won 20 games the year before won 60 and made the finals in birds rookie year.

I don't think LeBron could've done that if he were in the West all those years.

That Celtics team didn't make the Finals. They lost to the Sixers. Plus, that team still had pretty good players in Maxwell, Cowens, and Archibald, the latter two being Hall of Famers. Also had pretty good bench with Pistol Pete, Gerald Henderson, and M.L. Carr.

LeBron is the best example, but even then his no help teams didn’t stand much chance in the Finals when they got there.

Hakeem played in the era where the talent was more spread out than it has ever been. No supersteams beyond the Bulls. And he had some damn fun role players + Clyde in year 2. I wouldn’t call that one “alone”.

Jerry West before that?

Thats bullshit. Educate yourself.

Yes, you really should.

The '78-'79 team, despite having some talent, that team was a mess. They fired their head coach 14 games into the season and named Dave Cowens player/coach.

The next season, '79-'80, they went 61-21 and made the ECF after hiring Bill Fitch as HC and adding Gerald Henderson, M.L. Carr, Cornbread Maxwell and Pete Maravich.

The following season ('80-'81) they got Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish and won their first title of the '80's.

So, it wasn't as simple as they added Larry Bird and started winning titles. They had some significant roster upgrades, including adding some future Hall of Famers before they won anything in the '80's.

Not really. He had Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich and Walt Hazzard for many of those years and about 1968, they added Wilt.

You are right. I was thinking of Rick Barry.

Sorry. Got my old white dudes mixed up.

All that talent and they still couldn't beat the Celtics in '68 or '69.

Yep. The most recognizable names besides his on that team were Bill Bridges, Clifford Ray and Jamaal Wilkes (who was a rookie).
