Who will make it?

Melky - He SHOULD get it, but will he? Corner OF is a power spot, and you know he isnt getting voted in.

Oxy - Not sure he is deserving, so I will not be disappointed if he does not make it. But he is doing quite well.

Posey - He is having a good year, but is it allstar? I think he makes it on rep, though.

Panda - If he comes back hot, he may get in on rep mainly.

Cain - He SHOULD make it, but I am not sure because of...

Bum - He SHOULD make it, but I am not sure because of...

Vogey - He SHOULD make it, but I am not sure because of... (goto Cain)

KCYa - He has absolutely stepped up to elite reliever status, but there are a lot of stud closers.

In all, I think we get 3 allstars. Melky, Posey and Cain or Bum.

Melky and Buster for sure. At least 2 of the big 3 SP. Outside shot for Panda if he lights it up.

Casilla's bubble popped this past week. Romo never had a chance, middle reliever. Panda no shot either (injury). If Bum or Vogey pitch awesome their next 2-3 starts one might squeak in but 4 allstars is a lot for one of 16 NL teams, and one that isn't even leading their division.

What does leading the division or not have to do with anything? Vogelsong Is 8th in era in the NL. I don't see Capuano or Kershaw making it 11th and 12th in era... they are on the 1st place team. Cueto from Cin should be in, and I'd guess Strasburg (9th in era) makes it since everyone has a hard-on for him, but unless Vog suddenly takes a crap he is definitely deserving and moreso than all but 1 or 2 guys from the 1st place teams.

I agree Bumgarner won't/shouldn't make it he's been good but too many other guys have been better.

As for Romo, middle relief pitchers do sometimes make it when they are just lights out. He's been lights out. I could see it, he might not make it, but he's certainly deserving.

The only NL team that will not be jobbed is the Cards. Happens every year. Ain't nothin' new. Botch did it last year.

Maybe but look at how many starters are ahead of him in ERA and have at least 9 wins already (8 guys). How many starters usually make the squad 7 or 8? He's on the edge, and that's if Vogelsong 6-3 2.41 ERA (I think he is more deserving) and James McDonald 6-3 2.19 ERA don't make it due to their lower win totals. If both those guys make it I think Bumgarner is out.

Good point.

He might need this year as a breakout year to gain some reputation for an all star bid.

I think Bum makes it before K-CYa does. Panda might be higher on the list as well. Vogey, you may be right. He might make it as a late alternate.

For arguments sake, I will stick with Posey/Cain/Melk

I ALMOST left Leche off and included Bum, but I added Lohse instead of Holliday.

That's 5 for StL and SF, 3 for Atl. I could not warrant giving the Gs 6 players, even though they MORE than deserve it. It simply aint gonna happen. I also gave StL every benefit of the doubt. Defending Champs ALWAYS get over-represented. I did not account for Kemp's replacement, either. That will probably be Holliday (maybe Pence).
