Well then I guess that doesn't say much about our 2 starting DE's, does it? Despite playing many more snaps than Johnson, they managed only 2 more sacks, and 1 fewer sack, than Johnson respectively.

I dunno, I'm not saying Johnson sucks but it definitely will boost numbers playing alongside suh or McCoy. Yeah Jason Jones isn't a great pass rusher and Johnson does have fresh legs coming off the bench. Ziggy is the real deal tho.

Lions are disputing the offer Tampa made. Might not be over yet.

Wtf????

They wouldn't dispute tampering charges against the NFL's best DT, nor against a guy they gave up 2 draft picks for. But they want to dispute something about a guy they wouldn't even give an extra $800k for a 2nd round tender?

My guess is they see something blatently hokey. I still think Tampa will offer more even if they have to redo the offer.

3rd party arbitrator brought in. This could get interesting.

And there it is in a nutshell. Obviously they wanted to keep him or they wouldn't be fighting this. So why not the 2nd rd tender? $800k difference? Now they will pay more. At $1.5m its just plain stupid to think he wouldn't get a better offer, which at a minimum would decrease any possible savings, or end up costing more.

Just another example of how lost The Clown Show is. Have they managed to do even one thing right this season? Please anyone spare me the resigning of Mathis and Prater, both guys openly said they wanted to be back. How must that have been?

I can't even venture a guess on them not pursuing the tampering charges. It is honestly beyond the realm of my comprehension as to what the thinking is there. When all you have to do is ask that the NFL investigate to see if any wrong doing occurred, and when it seems pretty clear that it did based on known history of penalties your own team got, and you do nothing then you are just a complete idiot.

What is left for anyone to try and defend about these clowns? A better roster? Wow, with the number of years he has had, the number of early round picks he has had, and a very loose money mgmt. approach how can you not improve the team greatly? Two wildcard playoff appearance banners doesn't cut it.

I would hope that Lewand could figure that out without an arbitrator.

You know better, he can't. The dipshit is on record as being comfortable with the Suh restructures for crying out loud.

It's all about the de-escalators. The Lions are trying to save $2 mil. There is a pretty good chance they win the arb hearing. There is no real harm trying.

Bucs fan here. I don't think Johnson is great at all but i want him. I would be surprised if he is not a Buc. We have a glaring hole at DE so if the contract is weird i would not be surprised if they just offer more money. If that is allowed i should say. Have plenty of cap space.

He is RFA. Detroit can match any offer. Since the Bucs already offered him a contract & Det has already indicating they would match, there is no chance of him being a Buc. Detroit is just trying to save a little money if they can, before they match the offer.

This reminds me of when we signed Dewayne White from Tampa. Somewhat similar situation with the teams reversed.

Corey Smith. I actually met the father of the guy who survived, Nick Schuyler. He did a paint job for me at work.
As far as Johnson goes, why does anyone think that a team would give up a draft pick for him? My guess is they get through this 10 days and still don't sign him. 7 mil over 3 years is still to much for him IMO. The Bucs are in a position where they need to spend money and they need to overpay to attract talent. We can't be like that even if we need a guy. Let him walk already

Much as I like him, I think that you are probably right. 2 mil a year is a lot more palpable then 3 mil that is for sure. I am OK either way at 2 mil a year. That's not much of an overpayment IMO.

I wonder what the "late round swap" is. Probably a 6th round swap, at best.
