Criteria is a flat out better season, with wins, stats and everything included. We could have a special vote-off if you want to.

Okay, sounds fair. But the poll can't be on this board. There's only two or three impartial eligible voters. NFL big board work for a poll location if need be?

I wish financially there was a way to keep Suh, I just don't see it. I was saying it in the other thread. The only thing I can figure is that they realize that his contract is going to cripple them so they chose not to extend lazy ass Fairley because they're not going to be able to both of them anyways. Fairley is going to want to get paid whether he has proven his worth or not.

Due to the piss poor job Mayhew has done contractually, I don't see how this team can afford him. Unless we trade CJ but that would be an entirely different thread all together.

LP ^^^^ Mayhew WILL SIGN SUH to an extension, IMO, no matter what. It's Fairley who will become trade bait during the Draft, IMO. Agree that we will not be able to afford Suh and Fairley next year, not to mention CJ's cap hit rises 7 mil in 2015. One of the DT's has to go in a trade this draft, JMO.

If Detroit was planning on trading Fairley -- they would have picked up the team option for 2015, so he would have two years left on his deal for the team he would be traded to.

In reality -- neither Suh or Fairley will be traded. Suh isn't going to be dealt, because he is a FA after this season and the package to get him from Detroit would have to be big and it would have to be draft picks, as Detroit had a 19 million dollar cap hit, whether they keep Suh or trade him, because of all the restructuring.

Fairley isn't being dealt because, once again, Detroit wouldn't get any value out of dealing him. He is in the last year of his contract and no team is going to deal away any type of talent to get a player on the last year of his deal, especially for a player who is so hit or miss.

Would you trade Fairley and a 2nd to move up?

Huh? Fairley and a 2nd? So we give up the 10th pick, Fairley and a 2nd round pick to move up??? That is way too much to trade away.

Or are you saying we trade Fairley, swap our 10th for a higher pick and get that teams 2nd round pick? Even if that was the case -- it would depend on who they were trading up to get.

If they were doing so to draft Mack or Clowney -- I'd say I would do it. If it was to draft a Watkins or Evans. No.

There isn't a deal where we would give up a player on the defense like a Suh or Fairley to trade up where it would make any sense, unless the pick was used on the defense.

Detroit cannot afford to lose any talent on the defensive side of the ball. You take a player like Suh off the defense and they go from middle of the road to a bottom third of the league defense. Same goes for Fairley to a lesser extent.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice one of your best players.
