Andrew Suarez was 92-95 with his fastball and was generating a fair amount of swings and misses. He was 86-88 with his slider, which was his main strikeout pitch to righties. Lofted some curveballs at 76-78.

Overall the line score was not pretty, but there was a lot of weak contact generated and plenty of other things to be happy about.

Sunday 6/18

Only a few more days until we get a full 7-team slate

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) WON 1-0 in a rare pitching affair in the PCL

Ryder Jones 2-4, 1 K. Played RF and switched to 3B. Only a matter of time (hopefully less time)
Mac Willliamson 3-4, 2B, 1 R. Been in a severe slump, but he's 6-15 over his last 4.
Juniel Querecuto 1-2, 1 RBI, SB (4).

Jarrett Parker will start rehab with the River Cats tomorrow.

Joan Gregorio 5.0-4-0-0-1-8. Only 81 pitches. Wonder if he's dealing with some minor injury. Was scratched last minute from his last start, many believed he was on his way to the big club, but here he is today (dominating), but only throwing 81 pitches. I'll keep an eye out.
Michael Roth 4.0-3-0-0-1-2. The classic 12-out save.

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA) WON 5-3

Miguel Gomez 3-5, HR (7), 1 RBI, 2 R, 1 K. Dude hits. That's all he does, that's all he knows. He's a mini version of Pablo Sandoval.
C.J Hinojosa 3-4, 2B, 2 R.
Tyler Horan 2-4, 2B, 3 RBI, CS, PO

Jose Flores 5.1-5-2-2-2-5
Carlos Alvarado 0.1-1-0-0-1-0
Jarrett Martin 1.1-1-1-1-3-0
Ryan Halstead 1.0-1-0-0-0-1. After giving up 3 runs in his first AA outing, he's gone 6 straight scoreless.
Tyler Cyr 1.0-0-0-0-1-1

San Jose Giants (A+) lost 5-2

Gio Brusa 2-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 K, CS.
Matt Winn 2-3, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K.

Mark Reyes 5.0-6-3-3-0-0. Mark has 9 of the team's 40 losses (12 decisions in 15 games [11 starts]). Poor guy
Caleb Simpson 2.0-0-0-0-1-0
Will LaMarche 1.0-2-2-0-0-2
Dylan Rheault 1.0-1-0-0-0-1

Augusta GreenJackets (A) lost 3-0

Skyler Ewing 2-4, 2B.

Stephen Woods 7.0-6-1-1-2-6

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) lost 11-6

Conor Gillaspie 3-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R.
Jarrett Parker 1-3, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 K. Played CF. Good to see him back. Wonder how he'll factor in, has to be in the majors since he's out of options.
Mac Williamson 1-4, HR (8), 2 RBI, 1 R, 2 K.
Chris Shaw 1-4, HR (3 in AAA, 9 overall), 1 RBI, 1 R. The homer was off of Jon Gray, who was rehabbing for the Rockies.

Tyler Beede
4.1-10-7-7-1-5. Not ideal. 4th straight bad start after a good beginning to the season. ERA has gone from 3.31 to 5.40 in 4 starts.
Tyler Rogers 2.2-0-0-0-1-0
Matt Reynolds 0.1-4-4-4-0-0
D.J. Snelten 1.2-2-0-0-0-1. Kid has absolutely put his name on the map this year. 12.1 straight scoreless innings, 1.88 ERA in AAA, 1.75 ERA overall in 36 innings. He's a groundball machine, but also has 40 K's in 36 innings. And he's a lefty.

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA) were off

:fish2:

San Jose Giants (A+) are on All-Star break

Giants All-Stars: Mike Connolly, Ryan Halstead (now in AA), Conner Menez, Aramis Garcia, Ryan Howard, Bryan Reynolds

Aramis Garcia participated in the homerun derby. He hit 6 in the 1st round, enough to advance to the 2nd round. In the 2nd round, he hit 13 homers, more than the south champion (10), but was beat by his north competitor who had 15. Good showing of Garcia's raw power, which he has plenty of.

Augusta GreenJackets (A) are on All-Star break

Giants All-Stars: Domenic Mazza, Kelvin Beltre

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (A-) lost 7-4

Richard Amion 2-5, 1 R, 1 K, SB (4).
Manuel Geraldo 0-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 4 SB (7) <---!!! Wow

Alejandro De La Rosa 5.0-3-0-0-2-8. Nice
Nick Deeg 1.1-0-2-1-3-1. Very weird line.
Cesar Yandez 1.2-2-3-3-5-2. Very bad line.
Vic Black 1.0-3-2-2-1-1. Looks fine compared to the other 2.

DSL Giants (Rookie) lost 5-3

DSL D-backs1 vs. DSL Giants - June 19, 2017 | MiLB.com Box | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball

The DSL leagues are one tough nut to crack, but generally you look for hitters with good walk rates and good power numbers. An early candidate is this kid who was born in 2000 (woah). He's a tiny 5'9", but has a solid .442 OBP so far. Anyesber Sivira, a SS. Then there's this other kid also born in 2000. He's a bit bigger at 6'1", he's at a solid .378 OBP and .440 SLG. Alexander Canario, a RF. He's been plugged into cleanup so far.

We have our first minor league retiree of 2017 - Christian Jones. A lefty that showed promise his first couple of seasons in the organization. However, he was converted from a starter to a reliever with San Jose in 2015 and was not quite the same. His numbers were still decent through last year but repeated AA this year, where he struggled for the first time in his career.

Tuesday 6/20

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) WON 4-1

Jarrett Parker 0-1, 1 R, 2 BB. Played RF
Justin Ruggiano 1-3, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R.
Jae-Gyun Hwang 2-2, 1 R, 1 RBI. Played 3B.
Fed-X 2-3, 1 RBI.

Chris Stratton 8.0-3-1-1-0-9. Stratton had retired 18 straight batters going into the 9th, holding a shutout too. A Christian Adames homer blew that up. Still, a dominating performance for him. He needed that.
Steven Okert 1.0-0-0-0-0-0

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA) WON 5-4

Miguel Gomez 3-4, HR (8), 2 RBI, 1 R. Just hit, baby.
Dylan Davis 1-4, HR (3), 2 RBI, 1 R, 1 K.

Sam Coonrod 7.0-7-4-1-1-7. Rough beginning after 2 errors (1 by himself), but he retired the last 13 batters, 7 via strikeout.
Collin Balester 1.0-1-0-0-0-2
Tyler Cyr 1.0-0-0-0-0-1

Daniel Carbonell quietly got promoted to AA two days ago after finally mastering high A ball. He started ripping the cover off the ball after a brief stint on the dl in early June and finished his time at San Jose with a .304/.338/486. The dude is a bit old even for AA, he turned 26 in March, but it will be interesting to see if he can still salvage something of his career and make it to the big leagues.

'Bout time!

Just giving you a hard time. Thanks to you and @Stokes1931 for doing these updates for us. It is much appreciated, especially knowing that it takes time to do them.

I like it, keeps me in tune of what's going on. Plus, you see some weird stuff down there

Cory Taylor 5.0-5-3-3-4-1
Yordy Cabrera 1.0-0-1-0-0-0. 2 HBP, a passed ball, and a sac-fly. That's how you give up an un-earned run without a walk or hit allowed and no errors in the game.
Carlos Alvarado 2.0-2-2-2-1-1
Jarrett Martin 1.0-2-1-1-0-0

San Jose Giants (A+) enjoyed the last day of their All-Star break

:fish2:

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (A-) WON 5-3 in 12 innings

Thursday 6/22 (thanks for fixing the date yesterday)

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) WON 9-3

Jarrett Parker 2-4, 1 BB, 2 R. Jarrett is about to really complicate things. I'm thinking Gorkys will get dumped and Slater/Parker will serve as back up CFers and platoon LF. Parker has played RF and CF in rehab so far.
Justin Ruggiano 2-3, HR (3), BB, 2 RBI, 3 R.
Mac Williamson 2-4, HR (9) 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 R.
Ryder Jones 2-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, 1 K, 1 E (throwing, 7)
Chris Shaw 2-4, 1 RBI.
Jae-Gyun Hwang 2-5, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K.

Andrew Suarez 6.0-7-3-2-4-2. The Cats turned 6 double plays, which really explains things here. Could have been real nasty.
Kraig Sitton 1.0-1-0-0-1-1
D.J. Snelten 1.0-0-0-0-0-0. My favorite relief prospect these days, now un-scored upon in 9 straight games, going 13.1 innings in that span giving up 4 hits, 5 walks and 11 Ks in that span. Lefty, groundballs, strikeouts, profit.
Derek Law 1.0-1-0-0-0-1

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA) WON 3-0

Slade Heathcott 2-3, BB, 1 R, 1 CS (4).
C.J. Hinojosa 2-3, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R.

Matt Gage 9.0-5-0-0-1-3. Domination. Now up to 19 straight scoreless innings, with only 10 baserunners in that span. Wowsers. Got 15 groundball outs yesterday!

San Jose Giants (A+) lost 7-5

Bryan Reynolds 3-5, 3B.
Ryan Howard 1-5, HR (6), 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 K.
Gio Brusa 2-4, HR (11), 2 RBI, 1 R, 1 K. The Homerun was a game-tying 2-run shot in the top of the 9th.
Jalen Miller 2-4, HR (4), 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K.
Ronnie Jebavy 2-5, 2B, 3 K.

Matt Krook 4.0-5-5-5-4-5. A bit of a step back for Krook, but he was still getting groundballs and swing and misses.
David Owen 3.0-1-0-0-0-3
Carlos Diaz 1.0-2-2-2-0-2. After a perfect 8th inning with 2 K's, came into the 9th, double-WP-walkoff homer

Augusta GreenJackets (A) lost 5-4 in 10 innings

Sandro Fabian 2-5, 2 R, 1 K.

Garrett Williams 4.0-4-4-4-5-6. Eerily similar line to fellow lefty Krook. Generated a lot of groundballs and K's
Jose Morel 3.0-1-0-0-0-0
Caleb Smith 2.0-3-0-0-0-3
Nolan Riggs 0.1-2-1-0-0-0

Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (A-) WON 8-6

Manuel Geraldo 3-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R.
Ryan Kirby 2-4, 4 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB (4).
Richard Amion 2-4, 2 RBI, 2 SB (5), CS (1).

Jose Marte 3.0-1-0-0-2-2
Heath Slatton 3.0-1-0-0-1-3
Cesar Yanez 0.0-3-6-6-3-0. Barf
Luis Pino 2.0-1-0-0-0-2. Allowed both inherited runners to score.
Kendry Melo 1.0-0-0-0-1-1.

DSL Giants (Rookie) lost 3-2

DSL Giants vs. DSL Blue Jays - June 22, 2017 | MiLB.com Box | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball

Tomorrow (Saturday) the AZL starts. I'll be curious to see if any draftees are there (extremely unlikely, but it would be cool if Heliot Ramos was)
