What do the Ilitch's care about "fan unhappiness". They're putting 30 K in the stands every night, so keep that MINOR league product out there and the fools will come.

I think you might take a hit in attendance if you trade Fulmer in a salary dump. Lose 5000 a game in attendance and that will hurt pretty good.

There will NOT be 30,000 in the seat next season if Detroit puts out the same type of club they did this year. Sure, the fans will come to see Cabrera, Verlander, and (maybe) Fulmer. But they will not be returning for encores, or buying season tickets to watch a club that is 10-15 games under .500.
Replace Avila, and most of his cronies, and hire a new group of guys that have experience working with a rebuilding ballclub. Accept at least a couple of down years, getting rid of 3 of the 'Expensive Five' and building the minor league system.

Tigers are down over 7,000 tickets per game since 2014. 29thousand per this year.

Down 9,000 per game since 2013.

Pretty much 2,000 less fans a game per year for four years. That's going to drop dramatically next season. And this season most likely won't stay at 29K.

Ilitich family is losing money, again.

I would like to thank Mike Ilitich the Ilitich family for investing in the Detroit Tigers and going balls out for a World Series. While it did not come to fruition, it was a noble attempt. I will continue to support the Detroit Tigers as they retool for another attempt at the title.

Buy Little Geezers pizza for the next couple of years. It will be quicker and (usually) less painful than watching the Tiger pitching staff.

Me too.

But this will be the first season I can remember when I don't go to a game.

I'm going to agree with you partially. I admire that Mr. I went balls out for this team, I have nothing but respect for him with either the Tigers or Red Wings, regardless of the results. He wanted to win, what fan would complain about that?

The disagreement is that I feel Chris I may be strictly business over all else. If he burns this team to the ground and does some stupid shit, such as trading Fulmer to dump salary (Zim), then all goodwill is lost. I'll deal with a rebuild if it is a rebuild. I won't tolerate an approach to trash it all to maximize profit with no interest in winning.

Grand slam for (Diamondback) JD Martinez. If he keeps this up, Avila is going to be run out of town on a rail.

They could have definitely gotten more for JD Martinez for sure but I'll be realistic, it would have been 1 maybe two top 70-100 prospects at best mainly because his defense is awful, and the market was low for Corner OF bats.

JD was a good hitter here. Of course he'll be a good hitter elsewhere, especially in a more hitter-friendly home ballpark. The problem was paying him $20-$25 million for the next five years or so. And that issue is on Chris Ilitch more than Avila. Avila (this year) is doing what he's been told to do -- get next year's team salary under the luxury cap. A lot of the big money still on the books is signings from the Mike Ilitch/Dombrowski days.

If Avila is to be blamed for lack of funds, we can point to the Zimmermann & Upton signings, both of which are killing this team in terms of payroll.

Why is Rondon still pitching in the major leagues, let alone being used in a close game? I hope that brilliant bullpen move was Ausmus' last one as manager if this team.

Ausmus and the organization are fucking clowns. Rondon should be sent down or DFA'd after that disgraceful display on Wednesday. Man do I fucking want Ausmus GONE!!!

I still blame Avila more, but Ausmus has made enough dumb bullpen management decisions this season to be canned.

"I felt like this gave him an opportunity to kind of redeem himself." Said Ausmus after the game.

You let him "redeem himself" in a blowout game, dumbass. Not with a 5-3 lead in the eighth inning.
