Got the internet to work again. Turned the modem off and then back on again so now everything works again.

You still have a virus hiding somewhere that needs to be fixed.

I was just going to say to turn it off and then turn it back on. That always works.

Good job, you've won the day.

Sounds like a corrupted hard drive... Since it's a 2012 I doubt defragmentation would have helped, but just curious, when was the last time you defragged your hard drive?

Also, does it turn on when plugged in to a power source (charger connected)?

Defragging is over rated and you definitely don't want to do it with SSDs.

Oh yeah, everybody should install Malwarebyte's Antimalware and scan weekly...and if you are using Windows 8 1) Don't turn off the UAC 2) Reactivate the F8 key for safe mode

I almost got fired for watching internet **** at work. Instead I got fired for masturbating

Reminds of that great episode of Californication when Runkel got busted for the same thing. :pound:

that's supposed to fix the one I got, but doesn't seem to. All the pron I look at, and no viruses. She downloads "smilebox" and sets loose some mini-virus thing. I think it is called safe-search.net or something. It changed my homepage to Bing, and just generally seems to have slowed shit down. I got my settings back, but still things seem to run a bit off.

You gotta limit your interests to the mainstream sites. No more guysonly.com for you.

I got my routine down, and it works for me. Your judgement is not noted nor accepted :pound:

Does not sound like a virus to me.

Ford, look at something like BitDefender Rescue CD Removes Viruses When All Else Fails . Some viruses don't get handled effectively if you run the scanner in the infected OS, but if you boot to a different OS, the antivirus can run uninterrupted. That one you just burn to CD, then it's pretty much plug and play. You'll just need to hit a button when booting up to boot from the cd instead. It may state it on the screen or you might want to google it for your specific computer. It's usually F2 or F12 in my experience.
