Franklin > Strong

Franklin has done what he has done at the worst program in the SEC while Strong has the best program in a terrible league. I hire Franklin all day long.

Texas will not hire a coach who finished the 2013 regular season 8-4, just like Mack.
Texas will not hire a coach who finished the 2012 season 9-4, just like Mack.
Franklin is neither an offensive or defensive mastermind, he's almost like Mack.

Vandy was winnng 2 or 3 games a year before he got there now they are winning 8 or 9 a year. Imagine what he could do with a team that already wins 9 games a year and has a recruiting base like texas does. Franklin woud be a great hire.

This is a completely bad argument. There is a BIG difference between being good with what you got and getting the best out of elites.

It's called CFB vs. Pros... and Texas is way closer to PROs than the mid-tier CFB teams.

We need a coach that will get 95% out of our elite players, and not just 80%, 100% of the time out of most players.

Completely different.

Texas needs a coach who is good defensively or offensively, not a manager like Franklin.

Really?

GO back 30 years:

Ranked at EOY - 19 times. That means more than 1/3 of the time they weren't even ranked.

Top 5 - 6
6-10 - 1
10-15 - 6
15-25 6

I get that Tx has the athletes, but they have always had them and the results more often than not haven't been so good. To equate UT to the Pros is silly.

I explained exactly what I meant by that... don't be a troll. I laid it out plainly.

As in the PROs, at a place like Texas, you want a system that gets the VERY BEST out of your elite recruits AS OPPOSED to places like Vandy, Stanford, etc, where it's a good idea to scheme to get 80% out of your players 100% of the time...

Well, if that "plainly" explains it, I still don't get it. So, only programs like "Texas" want to get the VERY BEST out of their recruits ... none of the other non-PRO colleges would want that! More pedestrian programs are just glad to get 80% out of their players.

There's a difference, IMO, in getting top recruiting classes all the time, and scheming to get the most you can from those elites to contend for Conf and National Championships

and...

Having mediocre talent and scheming to let them play within their means and minimize turnovers and mistakes with an eye to doing "better than expected."

Yes, I think that is the reality in CFB. I think Mack Brown too many times treated his teams [01, 04, 08, 09] like they were a mediocre team that needed to be schemed instead of letting them chance to be phenomenal.

Programs like Georgia wouldn't notice the difference! They have gotten so used to winning small and riding the SEC coattails that they have gotten off track.

DKR is rolling in his grave at the thought of a black man roaming the Texas sidelines as the HC.

Hope he gets it.

William Stewart Simkins, founder of the Florida Ku Klux Klan, will come back and haunt the Forty Acres. Simkins Hall was named after him.

I'm thinking he sees an opening at UF in a year.
Texas is a better job right now in my opinion.

1. The team is further along.
2. Play in the Big 12 rather than SEC.
3. State of Florida only has a slight edge in recruiting.

He was very vocal about his perceived racism in the SEC, so I am not so sure about that. I have also heard he is not media friendly. Apparently, he makes Saban look photogenic. Not sure the validity of that, but it has people doubting he has a real desire to move too far up the food chain.
