It's not that Notre Dame wasn't a good game for Alabama it's that Notre Dame never tries to win the big game

Notre Dame and Georgia seem to have the same problem, good to great defenses but, their offense cannot play catch up if needed.

Oklahoma had the opposite problem.

This is keeping these teams just off the cusp of being great.

OU’s defense was a LOT better this season.

That bodes well for next season.

Yup and likely most of that defense will be back next year (eight to ten of them) and more importantly Grinch is setting that culture in stone.

The offense was very young this year and should take a step up next year, especially with Rattler having to compete with Caleb Williams for the starting job next year and Brooks coming back.

He reminds me a bit of Russell Wilson.

Some team will take him.
wilson seems stronger, better arm. and wilson fortunate to fall into a good system.

good chance books plays in the nfl, just don't see him as a starter.

brady quinn had all the tools, and look what happened to him. bounced from one loser to another. talent and luck is required to succeed in the nfl.

Why in big games, does ND fail to throw down field regardless of the oc?

My guess is their WR's lack elite speed to separate against elite corners requiring both a powerful arm and amazing accuracy. Most Notre Dame QB's under Brian Kelly have lacked one or the other especially on deeper throws.

Also I wouldn't say any offense has been overly aggressive in big games under Brian Kelly.

But you would at least think that ND would at least attempt to go deep, even if they over throw. Its the playoffs.

I don't disagree they should have been more aggressive and hoped they would be but they weren't.

I pour concrete for a living, but I do believe that I could at least make Alabama think once or twice if they are running the ball.

They needed to get some of their faster guys on the field like Keys or Lenzy if he's healthy. I've also wondered why the freshman Johnson wasn't getting used when they raved about him coming into the season.

I guess I'm just a poor loser when it comes to Notre Dame. Alabama was the better team for sure. We should at least had a better showing. That's why I rave.

OU's defense has improved greatly considering how awful it was two years ago. It moved up to decent last year; the problem was that LSU had been shredding good defenses all year. This year they looked pretty good. If football gets a normal year next year they should be impressive.
