If Beck had a drop back passer on his hands, he would probably tell him to learn how to punt.

As long as he's here, we'll never field a true drop back passer.

The moron seems to think the coaching and coordination's going to somehow become stellar and the O-line is going to be able to pass block if Nebraska gets a drop back passer that doesn't scramble. :L

So we need Taylor Martinez?
--------
Name one of Bo's illustrious QB's especially in the last five years (and I'm counting this year as year five) that have given us a conf championship/a major bowl/or a top 10 ranking. And the starters are primarily the same type of QB. And yet as a general rule when the running game has gotten slowed down, we don't win. And the main reason is because we aren't recruiting QBs for their arms.

I think there is a certain fear that if we had let's say a drop back passer that we are going to sacrifice our running game and I don't believe it's true. We'll always be run first. But we need a passing game to keep good/great defenses honest and we don't have that.

Who cares if Frazier started 6 or 7 games unlike you who goes to google to try and play one up manship, I don't. It still doesn't refute what I've said----scrambling QB's haven't proven to be the be all for our offense.

Yes I get what you're saying. You're saying Peyton Manning would have been better than Tommie Frazier running an option oriented offense.

Do you even watch football? You wouldn't sound so fucking dumb if you'd just say that Nebraska needs to 'scrap the entire offense and go with a pro-style'.

The type of offense Nebraska is trying to execute is not the offense for a drop back passer. It's why they are not recruiting drop back passers.

Can you grasp that?

I don't know how to explain it to you in simpler terms than a 10 year old would understand.

Somebody help shadybil.....I mean bigred472 out, will ya?

That is NOT what I'm saying........I'll--try--it--this--way. Scrambling--QBs--are--going--to--be--our-- downfall. See, that isn't so hard to understand. And the last handful of years have proven it. You want to live in a fantasy world when it come to Husker football? Your choice. I'm basing my observations on what has transpired over the last handful of years.

So what you're saying is we need to scrap our playbook and go with a completely different Offense....

Back to the West Coast Offense?

Gonna have to fire Beck first, because his Offense only runs under a mobile QB. That is what RA is trying to say.

No. That's not what he's saying. That's what he 'should be' saying to keep from looking like a dumbass.

LOL @ wanting a QB that can't scramble. :L

Does 472 even know what it means to scramble? :noidea:

Boy I tell ya, if I could be a coach for 1 day I'd run the Option with Peyton Manning. Guy can pass AND we'd have the option.

Dream cum true right thar!

I don't know if the Huskers will be 11-1. I am confident that they will be in the CCG.

I'm fairly sure that if they lose another game, they will not be in the CCG, so I think they pretty much have to finish 11-1. Don't think they can get in with two conference loses due to tie breakers

As someone mentioned, we don't have the supporting cast to have a drop back passer, but even if we did, do you know why we recruit scrambling QBs? Because we can get them. You have to be REALLY good to be an effective one-dimensional QB. They don't come along often. It'd be great to have the next coming of Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, but they're not walking through the door of Memorial Stadium any time soon. How are teams that can't recruit #1 overall QB prospects (Oregon, Texas A&M, etc.) suddenly fielding solid teams? Because they can go out and get a 3-4 star QB that everyone else overlooked. There's just not enough drop back passers to go around, so that's not a viable option for us.

Anyone who is seriously concerned about Tommy at this point ALREADY in his career is an average dumbass hick who thinks because 1995 happened Nebraska should just always be awesome.

And if you cannot see that Tommy possesses all the tools needed, you just plain don't know anything about football.

This is not Taylor Martinez. This is a Quarterback we have.

Taylor's career would have ended a lot differently if he hadn't got his ankle blown up. That shit takes forever to heal. Shit was still fucked up on pro day. Not saying best ever or anything, just a lot better than how things ended.

Yeah. The game just needs to slow down for him. That is the primary difference from what he's doing now and what he was doing 3 years ago.

Bo/Beck need to stop getting punked on the snap count too. :L

If you ask me the offense is too complicated. But that is the way bo wants it. He has problems defending complicated offenses (mostly because his gameplan is to stop EVERYTHING on EVERY PLAY) so that is the offense he wants. Sterrup looked horrible last week, but I'm pretty sure some of that was he had no Idea who to block.

I played O-line in the " on/over/play-side gap" era of blocking. The shit these guys have to learn today would keep me up at nights.

I'm pretty happy about where TA is at, honestly the kid received zero coaching until last year even then the coachings been let's say less than quality. He continues to battle when things are down and appears to be receptive to things like learning and adapting

The only difference between Tommy and Taylor (at the moment) is the way it looks when the ball comes out, and their running ability/style.

Neither have touch on the ball, neither make clutch in-game decisions.

Not saying Tommy doesn't have deep ball touch. He clearly does. It's the short/medium shit. It needs serious work.

That dude throws the prettiest deep ball in D1.
