What would be your all time greatest Broncos team? Went with a 3-4 Defense. Just curious to see what others come up with. I know I moved a few guys but this is the team I'd go with. I'm sure this thread has been done before but oh well I guess.

Defense:

It's hard to think 3/4, 4/3 etc esp with the changes in the size of the players over the past decades ... So I'm picking my Top Defense, with the front seven and the DBs

It may not all fit perfectly, but it's one hell of a defense if you ask me

Front Seven, put 'em where you like:

- Ruben Carter
- Rulon Jones
- Barney Chavous
- Bill Romanowski
- Randy Gradishar
- Tom Jackson
- Von Miller

DBs

- Louis Wright
- Champ Bailey

- Brian Dawkins
- Steve Atwater

QB--John Elway-Not sure there is another choice unless you are a fan under 25 years old and just never got the chance to see Elway hardly play.
RB--Terrell Davis-Again any other choice?
WR--Rod Smith, Eddie Mac, and DT. Can you imagine this group playing together?
LT--Gary Zimmerman-HOF LT that just dominated
LG--Mark Schlereth-The guy was just nuts
C--Tom Nalen-Could there be any other
RG--Vasquez
RT--Matt Lepsis
TE--Shannon Sharpe

I'll just say I will take this D over the best offense Elway was surrounded with and this offense now even with the struggling run game, Manning would pick apart the lbs and secondary of the Orange Crush days and the 97-98 SB teams. Many of you are too young to remember the Orange Crush D. They were not that good between the 20's but they very very impressive in the red zone which saved their butts. Aside from Champ and Wright, the dbs for all those teams were mediocre at best and although they both had hard hitting great run stopping Lbs, they were slow and lacking in pass coverage. The one thing that stood out most for all those teams was the inability to stop 3rd and long plays. Denver D would just totally kick butt on 1st and 2nd down and just get burned on 3rd and long. It was unbelievable and drove me frigging insane. Give me Nalen,Shlerth and TD on offense and besides Champ and Atwater, Ill take everyone we have now over all the rest. Don't get me wrong, I loved and respected and appreciated a ton of those guys but without TD and Elways scrambling ability Denver would not have made it to those SB wins with those Defenses. Trust me. They were all bend but don't break unlike this group who can do it all and I believe they've gotten Denver to 4-0 strictly on their shoulders. IMO of course Gentleman

Much love for Simon Fletcher getting the recognition that he deserves. Riley Odoms, Glen Cadrez, and Alton Montgoemry are also worthy of love!

I don't recall the early "Orange Crush" being bend but don't break. That was the late '70's version that eventually got beat by the Cowboys. Now that WAS true in the 80's, and those defenses were outclassed in the Super Bowl. And while we had a great offense in the 90's, it was a defensive stop that won us Super Bowl #1.
