After multiple 100+ loss seasons, and nothing more than a promise to keep the faith while watching the worst team in MLB

THE ORIOLES ARE AL EAST CHAMPIONS!!!!

Almost impossible to get my mind wrapped around it.

The only down side is that I bought tickets to Friday's game. I was trying to time up the clinching night.
Camden Yards was crazy tonight.

I will be likely watching a Norfolk Tides level AAA players from the Orioles backup and 2nd tier players tomorrow night.
This thread is 1000 pages long and this is a first! Congrats to the O’s and their long-suffering fans. They’ve waited a long time for this.

Give it up for them for sure...

2 years ago 100 losses, 2 years later 100 wins

That's a heck of a quick rebuild

Red Sox are 4-17 since September 5th and they just gave Cora a vote of confidence. What the fuck is happening??!

I pretty much stopped watching after Casas got hurt.

Here’s to hoping we can get a Phillies Orioles World Series in the 40th anniversary of the 1983 World Series with those two teams. Except this time…we flip the result.

Congrats Orioles fans.

The 1,000 page thread message was pretty telling. It HAS been a long time coming.

As a transplanted O’s fan living deeep in Yankee country, I appreciate other team’s fans willingness to get on board the bus and root for the O’s in the playoffs

Because NOBODY wants to see Philadelphia win anything, and we’ve all had enough of the Dodgers, Astros, and Rays too.

Let’s Go O’s!!

My last season ticket game was Saturday, so I’ll just get there early and soak it all in. I was able to get G1 of the ALDS so I’m pretty pumped for that one.

I think you still give some of the players, especially starting pitchers, some final workload. These guys aren’t going to be used to not playing for six days, so I think you try to keep them loose. Maybe pull them halfway through games, but there is still World Series home field to play for, if I am not mistaken.

Also, I find it fitting that the move that heralded of our tear down gave us the starter for last nights game. Kremer deserved that win.

Was the last appearance by the O’s in the postseason the dreaded “Zach Britton game”? Uggghhh. Time to write some new postseason history.

I also think of the O’s and the Jeffrey Mayer/Jeter fake HR fiasco. Are these their last TWO appearances? Maybe I’m missing others.

Sadly, yes. I also happen to have the Trumbo HR ball from that game.

The Orioles made the playoffs in 2012 and 2014 though. I was at both of the 2014 ALDS 1&2 games where we swept the Tigers with Scherzer, Verlander and Price, and was at Game1 of the ALCS where we got swept by the Royals. Jeffrey Maier was 1996, and we did make it in 1997. I remember being in the upper deck for Game 3 against the Mariners in the ALDS, but I was a little kid then.

This is a shame. He had a great season this year and looked to be one of the best closers in the game. Fortunately, they have Yennier Cano to step in to take his place.

Seems like an appropriate quote today.

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.

- Bart Giamatti
