I remember when he was the last guy on an active MLB roster who was older than me, hard to believe he's gone.

Read a great piece yesterday about Torre calling him after the last out of the '04 ALCS to congratulate him-remembering the despair he experienced a year earlier. He was definitely one of the good ones. RIP.

This is a shame. He had a great season this year and looked to be one of the best closers in the game. Fortunately, they have Yennier Cano to step in to take his place.

Best they do it now since they weren’t going to put him on the postseason roster. Hopefully he’ll be 100% by spring training in 2025.

I killed that stupid trade when they made it and it just looks worse and worse. But why would the Yankees want to keep a home grown lefty sinkerball pitcher who wanted to stay when they could pick up an often injured, light hitting centerfielder?

The one good starting pitcher he manages to draft and he couldn't wait to get rid of him. I eagerly await him to trade Schimdt in the off season for a utility guy coming off a torn acl.

Apparently not in Florida either.... Not since 1919 has a (non-pandemic) playoff crowd been less...

They need to move that team. The TV ratings are ok I read but the stadium is a disaster and in a difficult place to get to. Better off watching it at home than dealing with the traffic and craptacular surroundings.

Nasty lives down there, he’d go, but the games are too late for him……he usually has his baked scrod, mixed vegetables and apple cobbler around 4:30 and is in bed by 7:00 sharp every night…..
