Not sure if this award or thread is about actual acting talent...

that is always harder to measure... and generally Drama actors seem to be perceived as the better "ACTOR"

i wouldnt simply measure by most money because of inflation and particular franchises dominating the box office...

Maybe top 10 is too high, because i am seeing others that i left out...

But i dont think calling Sandler one of the GREATS is that far off...

Pacino, DeNiro, Daniel Day Lewis, Joe Pesci, Woody Harrelson, even Ben Stiller has had better comedic movies, Jim Carrey too

I agree. Philadelphia was amazing. Name just one movie that Hanks was in that was even AS good as Philadelphia.

I always considered him overrated as both a comedic actor as well as a dramatic one.. the plaudits over the latter being due to his success primarily as a comedian. But I'm not a big fan of "stupid" comedy in general, so this is probably a me issue.

I watched Hustle last night and he was fine in it.. actually he was the best part of the movie but that isn't saying much. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't a 93% which is what it received on Rotten Tomatoes. It was just a run-of-the-mill sports movie with a standard story arc and sports movie tropes.. and spoiler alert.. a happy ending.

As far as acting and creative talents, Mike Meyers is a ton better in both departments. That’s just from ex-snl cast. I like Sandler movies for most part but very low brow humor. Uncut gems could have stayed a screen play.

Hard for me to make a case for Sandler being on a best actor list unless we are talking way the F down the list. That is not saying he isn’t entertaining, he is. I have nothing against the guy, but best actor?

I have seen Williams in many other roles and he is damn good. I also remember him in Mork and Mindy.

One of my fondest memories was watching him live in Vegas off of a channel we got while staying in LV. He was a funny Mother....

Sandler is very talented but meh as an actual actor. Williams is very very good.

Really. Steve Martin has been in all kinds of movies. IMO, two tiers better than Adam as far as acting goes.

I think Martin has been in better movies and certainly more consistently good movies, but I think Sandler is a better actor. In Uncut Gems, Hustle, Punch Drunk Love, and Grown Ups 2 Sandler is terrific. Not sure Martin can reach those performances.


BTW just my opinion, not saying he is in any top ten or anything,
