Totally agreed. WTF happened?

Podlesh was AAAWWWWFUL today. Did he even net a punt over 40 yards?

I realize Spurlock had a good return on one, but Podlesh had to have been hurt... There's no way he just was kicking away from him. Right?

If so, that was some of the worst punting I've seen since Brad Maynard in the middle of a Chicago winter. Remember how good Maynard would be... until that ice would start freezing over on lake michigan? Terrible late season punter. Panthers DIV playoff game, Eagles playoff game, etc... Hopefully that's not what we're going to see out of Podlesh.

Yeah, he was terrible yesterday. Certainly not one of the players we would normally talk about, lol.

One thing that stood out to me, is how close he was to the line of scrimmage!? Normally, they're another 5yds deep, no!?

In a game where we didn't convert a 3rd down till the last play of the game, and Net of 28 yards isn't going to cut it.

Bears now looking for a punter.

I know it's a damn punter, but after watching Maynard knee-punt it for so many years, I thought he was a great FA pickup. His injury from 2012 (hip flexor) obviously has done him in.

They brought in 6 (I think?) punter for tryouts. :L

Maybe my memory is bad, but he looked fine the first three weeks. His inside the twenty stats are ok. I wonder if he broke up with his girlfriend. Hard to imagine the team giving up on him that suddenly. There must be something else suddenly wrong. Hence the girlfriend theory.

its not the length, it was no hang time whatsoever. all line drives were like cutler passes. I dont care if he kicks it 40 yards if it gets there when the coverage does.

Yup. The big return was a direct result of that.

Regardless, his ass may be unemployed by the end of the week.

When we brought him over, I thought it was a great move, and paid dividends immediately, being a much better punter than Maynard. (...and I don't wanna hear how good of a directional kicker he is) That shit's fine and dandy when we're punting from midfield...not so much from out own 10.

I really think his hip flexor injury last year sealed his fate. I imagine that's gotta be one of the worst injuries a punter can have.

I agree. I don't at all remember him being bad the first three weeks. Then he has the worst game of his Bears career, indoors nonetheless. Strange

My guess is that he has an injury.

I would also guess that he didn't tell the trainers and coaches.

I still don't get why he's so close to the line of scrimmage? Seems like that would force him to rush things and increases the chances of it being blocked and/or shanked??

Yeah, definitely looks like a high risk/low reward strategy.
Like I said, I think he has an injury that he didn't tell anyone about, and was trying to get all he could.

I am surprised it took this long for a team to block a punt against us. He is STILL 5 yards closer to the line of scrimmage than normal punters!? Don't get it?
