The best argument for giving the Patriots draft picks back

Steph Stradley, who is both a lawyer and a football writer, shows that people who seriously believe the Deflategate nonsense either are morons, or else (more charitably) were duped by the publicity waves.

No Evidence of Ball Tampering. No evidence exists that Tom Brady or anyone from the Patriots wanted balls deflated outside of the ranges dictated by the rules.

None. Zero. Nothing in thousands of pages of documents or testimony or found anywhere in the known universe.
Ample Evidence of No Ball Tampering. Of the evidence that actually exists, there is plenty of evidence that no ball tampering occurred

No “Circumstantial Evidence” Case

... the NFL doesn’t have any evidence that anything happened at all other than the NFL didn’t realize balls deflate in cold weather. But if you did think something shady happened, um well, here are some old, random texts that do not refer to PSI out of normal limits, a guy taking a brief bathroom break before the game, things that happen in every locker room like a star QB signing lots of autographs and not knowing everyone’s full name, and a strange non-cooperation claim.
The NFL’s “Scientific Evidence” is Expensive Garbage.

Non-Cooperation Claim is Ridiculous.

She explains that at considerable length. It's the part most directly informed by her experience as a lawyer.

Conclusion. So, in sum, the main reasoning given why the Patriots draft picks were taken away is because of a discovery dispute between lawyers that from the outside looks like the Patriots were right. And because some lawyers retained by the NFL didn’t believe the Patriots personnel for poorly-articulated reasons.

Wasn't the guy in charge of the game balls for the Patriots actually refereed to as "The Deflator"?

Rather than talking about "direct" vs. "circumstantial" evidence, Stradley just talks about "evidence" vs. "circumstantial evidence". I hope you'll agree that the "Deflator" text message is either circumstantial evidence or none at all.

Yes, he referred to himself that way in a single text message. Stradley includes that in her comment on "old, random texts that do not refer to PSI out of normal limits".

Wow...just can't friggin let it go...guess what...They did it. Brady knew. The two guys Kraft fired/suspended knew. Kraft knew and was willing to give up the picks hoping it would save Brady...Be happy Kraft's judge friend ignored common sense and liberally decided there wasn't enough absolute concrete proof and ended the matter and just friggin move on

This guy is a lawyer and he said this::doh:
"there is plenty of evidence that no ball tampering occurred"
How does one prove something didn't happen??? Let me guess,,,the weather argument? An argument that something else MAY have occurred does not prove in anyway whatsoever that another independent action did not also occur...

Maybe this Houston fan can help OJ find the real killer too.

Maybe the ball boys will come out with a tell all in 10 years labeled "If I deflated...."

Right. The Pats organization was so sure of their innocence that their owner accepted (without a fight) a million dollar fine and losing two draft picks. Then, because they were innocent of course, they fired two equipment guys. Why fire the equipment guys if you are saying they did nothing wrong?!? And since he was completley innocent Tom Brady smashed into pieces the cell phone he was being asked to turn over to the investigator. Yup, nothing fishy about any of that.

Can we please just let this subject die! I am sick of it. Nothing is going to change... Goodell isn't going to suddenly give anything back to the patriots. Robert Kraft didn't fight the fine and draft picks, didn't go to the media and bitch about it... he has moved on from it.... It's time we have as well.

Mmmmm, actually Kraft did quite a bit of bitching in the media about deflategate. Then he went to a party with the judge hearing the case and the judge miraculously ruled in his favor. Not suspicious at all.
