Like, OK Farhan I can kinda see that part, not trading away chips for a Giolito type, try it that way 2 starters and elite back 11.

But I mean, NO bats? Some of ya'll tell me, who were the best bats to move and did they cost a lot?

More by the way the pitching is this good because the defense is pretty damn good especially the most important positions (C, CF, SS)

Can pitching and defense get them far enough, with THIS lineup? I sure hope so.

Gotta say the Giants do pretty well when tzill bitches out. Maybe we should stop ragging him, start encouraging him to.
Thing is...that's just simply not true.

But I'm glad they won tonight. Bailey is amazing.

Manaea figuring it out like this would be a HUGE add almost like...a trade!

Because if we do make the playoffs I guess they're gonna test the bullpen centric modern game, 2 starters then bullpen games with multiple guys who can get you 3 innings. Literally 2 starters and 11 'openers/relievers'

If the Giants are gonna prove me wrong the pitching is going to have to carry them. And it's not really bull pen it's 2 starters and 11 other weapons
Or Strip steps up and it's 3 and 10

We are much more likely to get multiple examples of me actually being right and punching out of stupid games. But again, I'm happy to get roasted.

He was a catcher throughout his minor league career. While he was a 3B in the majors, he was a legit catcher.
I know that's why it was fun the rare times he did it in the majors.

Who's our guy today?

Only 99 runs scored in the past 31 games going back to the end of June, but still a 15-16 record to hold a WC spot and hang in the division race.

I just can't shake the feeling that while we are fighting hard and trying to make this new idea of baseball work, it's just not enough. The pitching will wear down playing in 1 run games every night even if they win. You need SOME hitting, you need a couple 5 run wins to rest your arms.

And then the playoffs are a whole different style of play. Interestingly this model might work better for the playoffs but also all the opposing pitchers are good so if you don't have bats that gets even worse. And your great pitching doesn't have bad teams to support their stats.

I respect what they are doing I just think they are going to far this direction. They'll compete but fall short IMO

Yeah who knows? Wonder how to look it up
I don’t think it is a concern that really needs to be worried about. I think Pete Happy was that last true emergency catcher used by the Giants…

From Reddit, dude nails it:

Why Luciano was sent down and Diaz was kept

renderTimingPixel.png

Real simple reasons. Luciano had never played second base. Diaz has and his defense has been quite good. With Crawford back in the lineup Luciano would get limited play. Going back to Sacramento means he plays everyday and gets better. When Crawford retires he will probably be the everyday SS. Estrada will be back in a few days which means Diaz will go down to the minors, probably after being DFA’ed.

Yep Krukow said this on the radio this AM...he needs to play every day at 2nd so he can play multiple positions in the majors, he will be back soon, Diaz for sure will be gone when Estrada is back. Luciano may be back this year as the 3rd middle infielder, can start at short vs lefties and give Crawford a rest, etc
