And our esteemed ace allows in another two runs in the 1st inning while the 2nd coming of Willie Mays allows the hitter to reach 2nd via an error.

As SF11704 pointed out, Bumgarner is 5 years gone from World Series hero Bumgarner. He's not the same pitcher. Shame too because it means we won't get that much for him this July.

At what point does Young’s job start getting discussed?

Giants have two starters hitting over .250

Giants have six starters hitting under .225

Fire Bam Bam!
I think we all knew going into this season that it would be frustrating. No surprise there, but it is still frustrating. Frustrating that the team has waited so long to really start any kind of re-build. Frustrating that, it seems, no one is doing their jobs well. This is going to be a long season.

I understand the hitters not hitting. We simply don’t have the horses.

But the amount of runs given up in the first inning can only be a result of coaching. The starters aren’t warming up properly or they have bad scouting reports or SOMETHING. It is not a case of bad arms. This team has talented pitchers. THAT isn’t the issue.

Could be something to that

This kind of reminds me of the 2016 season when the offense suddenly went quiet. No explanation, just a sudden shift that didn't reverse. Could this be the pitching version of that strange phenomena?

I am still waiting for the behind the scenes stories of the 2016 season.

When that book is published, I will be first in line to buy it.

Mehhhh, two and a half years from shutting out Syndegaard and the Mets in the wild card game.

Just want to be accurate here.

Fair enough but you see what he's like now, velocity down, etc.

Here's the summary: The baseball deities pulled the proverbial rug out from under the Giants' hitters in 2016 because the balloon payment was due on the three WS titles in five years.

And we are still paying that balloon payment, it seems.

I've sensed over the years that when the team is not doing well, he has a tendency to mail it in.

When everything is on the line, he is motivated and there has been no one better. If it's not, then not so much.
