What can you expect from a team with a gopher mascot?

Congrats to Coach Fleck for the most embarrassing loss of his career.

A win in B1G

yaaay

Almost an epic choke job. Defense is brutal, but offense is coming around

Well that was embarrassing as it gets, getting killed by terrible Illinois team. A loss wouldn't have really shocked me, but ass kicking?

Robb Smith has been fired as DC. I thought he was bad hire from day one, not due to any inside knowledge, but he was bad at Arkansas and when MN fans hired a bunch of Arkansas fans thanked us for taking him off their hands

Offensively the gophers have improved. Definisvely they've regressed. If the D isn't better next year, PJ's seat will be heating up

I think there was a giant memo sent out to all of the NCAA coaches after this turnaround. "Never hire Robb Smith..."

Well, I'm not going to lie, I was not looking forward to going to game on Saturday. It was cold and I expected a rout, just by Purdue and not us.

Nice to get win, hopefully it was springboard, not a high point

Gophers are 5-1 @ Home

Northwestern reminds of Jerry Kill Gophers. Not flashy, boring, consistent, don't screw up and pounce on other teams mistakes and that's exactly what they did.

Bowl Eligibility and axe on line Saturday. I'll be there in Wisconsin

Win confidence 5%

(which is 4.9% higher than start of season)

What win. First win in Madison since 1994

Was great being there. I was initially not looking forward when my mil tickets, but man good time. Badger fans started leaving early, was great

1-7 on the road for me.... finally victory

Regardless of bowl game, I'm giving season a B

I know some will disagree, normally a 6-6 team only would get a C grade from me, but beating Wisconsin in Wisconsin bumps it a full point ( and outweighs the Nebraska, Illinois, Maryland embarrassment)

Tad more on Wisconsin game for those interested. My MIL bought the tickets early in the year, and I was not at all excited. Badgers were ranked and still considered a top team in NCAA at time, and I thought we'd get killed. With Wi struggling I was odd mix of confident and doom gloom, but I thought we had chance. When Douglas returned the punt for a TD I just there screaming GO GO GO. The badger fan behind me wanted them to go for it (4th and 7 from their own ~35) and of course returned TD "proved" his point. Mn giving up score to end half, especially a TD, hurt a little. MN built up double digit leads in 2014 and 2016 and still lost, so my confidence wasn't high (Badger fans were already congratulating me for victory at this point, it was 10 point lead) and few badger fans actually left game. As MN started stringing long drives in third confidence grew, but I've been kicked in nuts too many times. @23-7 badger fans started their mass exodus, but I was still nervous, 2 score game. When Tyler Johnson got slant late in 4th for a key first down to extend a very long drive, was really when I believed we were winning this thing. Missed FG put a little MN panic in me, but looking at clock, I realized it would be epic choke as Wi, but I wouldn't count it out. Next possession was strip sack and my 99% confidence went to 100%. At this point I was directly behind badger bench along fence with a bunch of other gopher fans waiting for them to get axe out. I knew they brought it to EZ (thanks to prior badger coach) but couldn't make it over. Dejection on badger sideline was priceless, so many years of ass kickings. I stayed until clock hit and 0 and watched boys run the field with the axe. I briefly debated running on field, but decided against it.

I've been traveling to gopher games for few years, was finally nice to get payoff.

Due to weather I wore a heavy gopher shirt, but I had my better dead than red shirt on under. I was tempted to wear it to dinner, but my SIL would've been annoyed and she had already had one meltdown on the day, so I just wanted it to be peaceful dinner.

Camp Randall was very cramped stadium. More cramped than I remember. The fans were much more subdued from start to finish. My first trip I was verbally harrassed a lot, and not just your team sucks, it was HEY ASSHOLE, F$GGOT, etc (all because I wore gopher gear). This time nothing, not even when I was cheering.

Quick Lane Bowl vs Georgia Tech

@ 6-6 and embarrassing losses to Illinois, Nebraska, Maryland I'll take it. I'm happy it's vs P5 school and it'll be interesting to see how MN plays the triple option.
