I'm thinking at least 25% of the current NFL coaches may be canned by the end of the 2016 season.

In order of imminence of firing, these are my candidates:

Chip Kelly - 49ers This is a no brainer. Kelly has completely failed on the pro level.
Gus Bradley - Jaguars Nothing after 3+ years.
Jeff Fisher - Rams Long overdue.
Todd Bowles - Jets Victim of circumstance, he had no QB.
Rex Ryan- Bills Big blow hard meets reality. The game has passed him by.
Marvin Lewis - Bengals See Jeff Fisher comment.
John Fox - Bears No traction or improvement for the organization, they've declined.
Mike McCcoy - Chargers Three years, no progress.
Jay Gruden - Redskins Depends on how far and fast the redskins fade this year.

These coaches are on the bubble, but their teams have given them a temporary reprieve:

Dan Quinn - Falcons He stays if they make the playoffs.
Jim Caldwell - Lions Same as Dan Quinn.
Adam Gase - Dolphins Same as above.
Sean Payton - Saints Depends where they wind up.

I think these guys stay in spite of their team's play:

Mike McCarthy - Packers
Hue Jackson - Browns First year coach.
Mike Tomlin - Steelers Steelers don't fire anybody for some reason.
Doug Pederson - Eagles First year coach.
Dirk Koetter - Buccaneers First year coach

At this point, Gase isn't going anywhere regardless of whether Miami makes the playoffs or not.

And all signs point to Fisher sticking in LA. He probably stays at least until they figure out if Goff can play or not.

Are the 49ers doing worse than expected?

For me, I see the following almost guaranteed making changes between now and 2017.
Buffalo- Rex's days are done as a head coach.
Cincy ( Finally)- Marv Lewis will never get over the hump, even when the whole AFCN is down.
Jacksonville- So much potential, Bradley sucks as a coach.
Chicago- Looks like Fox or Cutler will be the odd man out.
LA- Loads of talent on D, needs to play the rookie to save his job.

Maybes
Indianapolis, Pagano has been on a short leash for a while. If not for cancer, he would already be gone, IMO.
San Diego, always mediocre it seems.
SF, they have more problems than coaching. No talent at all besides Hyde.
New Orleans- Could be a good team if they would invest in defensive talent.

As soon as the Jags are out of the playoff race, Gus Bradley will be gone. So he has another couple of weeks left before being the first coach fired.

Updates:

Redskins have bailed out Jay Gruden with their wins.
Packers may say goodbye to Mike McCarthy and their GM.

...all part of his plan. I'm almost to the point of hoping the team completely tanks the rest of the year just to get him fired. He IS the problem.

I think Rex is safe. The team has played much better since he made the OC change. Any issues lately have been due to injuries more than anything.

Although i can't stand GD and his jumping off the bus.... McCarthy goes. He'll get a new HC job elsewhere before next season

Quinn, Caldwell, Gase stay

Payton Goes because McCarthy will be pursed by Saints
Fox Stays because isn't his fault. There is injuries and inconsistent QB Play for the Nfl's Douchebag Extortionate (thin ice but stays)
Bradley goes. So Much Potential. So wasted
Rex Stays. @shopson67 hit it on the head. The offense has improved with the new OC
Gurden Stays. The Skins are winning and competing for a WC spot.
Boles Stays. See Fox (thin ice)
Lewis goes. Bengals have taken a little slip this year. Like McCarthy He will have a new HC job before Next Season
Fisher is Hard. The talent is there but there just so damn inconsistent.

Kelly.

One to Keep a eye on:

Bruce Arians. I love the guy. Great Past and story but this team was a lock for the SB. There is no reason for them being 4-5-1. Something has to give and someone has to go.

Seriously Mike McCarthy is a joke. His time is running out.
I think this team needs some fresh faces too, but this is one of the downsides to not having a true owner. The Packers are really slow to change management. Remember how long we held on to Mike Sherman?

Fuck that shit Mike McCMuffin is gone if they don't make the postseason. The team has quit on them, they're giving up a record amount of points.

I'm not sure what it would take to fire Jeff Fisher or Marvin Lewis if they survive this year.

We got rid of Dusty Ray Rhodes after he was 8-8 for one year. Why can't we do the same with McMuffin winning 6 games? Any other team would've fired MM after the Seahawks game anyways. Just look what Denver did. They had the same coach for three years and won the division, then got destroyed in the superbowl and then won the division the next year and they still got rid of him. They had better record than the Packers but he was still fired. The top down needs to go. Clean the fucking house. No more TT, MM, Murphy, Capers, everyone. No more fans being the fake owner shit. We need a true owner that makes moves to win not to save money and hold onto the same old trashy players.

I actually think Rex deserves another season

They have been brutalized by injuries and lack of playmakers, and think they are still a decent team that could end up in the 9-7 range......Taylor looks to me like a QB on the rise, and the defense seems to be getting better each week

Hue Jackson may survive 0-16, but dont think he should.....Never liked the hiring, his Bengals offenses were just brutal every postseason on his watch, and the Browns have shown nothing to indicate that the arrow is pointing up on their future

Payton isn't going anywhere but he's honestly overrated as a playcaller.

Still gonna keep Gase on the bubble? First year coach on a 6 game win streak?

Interesting.
