This contest is about a coin flip to me. I ranked team 3 higher in the rankings, but looking at these two head to head, it's a toss up. Team 3 has a pretty good hitting catcher, but he isn't exactly Pudge behind the plate, and team 5 has lots of speed at the top. Their lineups are pretty close overall, would give the edge to team 3. there. Better bench for team 5 and a little better pen. Rotations are solid, maybe a slight edge to team 5. This one would go the full 7 games, and probably extra's at the end.

Team 3 wins

I'm gonna pick team 5. I like the back end of the lineup and the back end of the rotation a little bit better.

How much does the back end of the rotation matter in a series? They will pitch 1 game at most

When all else is equal - the back end of a rotations and lineup can help tremendously...

Lineup sure. But your #4 starter is only pitching 1 game 5th starter not at all

You're a genius Stoker. Coney should absolutely be ahead of Morris. Yes he's my favorite Yankee of all time but still.

yeah... I don't think anyone would disagree with that...

Oh, I've had my fair share of "discussions" about Morris and how good he was.

Had these teams ranked 1 and 2.

And Im voting Team 5 here.

Comes down to rotation and bench. Had Nos' not taken the top guy on my list when he selected Cone, Id go with all 5 rotation spots Team 5 over Team 1. But he did, Morris could quite possibly lose both of his starts in a 7 Game series. Tanana though, his prime is the best of any two in this Mock. Pitching in a Game 7, that advantage is HUGE. Sid and Rijo are close. Gubicza's 88-89 seasons are superior to anything Hough did. (I won a Mock with Hough as my #5, but opted for MG this time.)

Bascially this. I take a big value in bench and that edge goes to team 5. I have also been on the side of good hitting beats good pitching in this draft but I think the lineups are pretty equal. I give an edge to team 3 though. So now it comes down to the rotation and in my opinion Team 5's depth wins it. If Morris can win either of his 2 starts team 5 is basically a lock in my opinion and takes it in 6. If he loses both I think team 5 sneaks out in 7 games.

Team 5 for me.

Just a couple thoughts.
1. Puckett IMO was a better CF than Murphy
2. You have Winfield beating Strawberry on defense in RF (Those are both players on team 5) Andre Dawson is my RF
