If your measurement of the GOAT means the one who won more than anyone else then the GOAT of all GOATs is Bill Russell.
RIP Bill Russell, though most of us hardly knew you.
I'm adding this thread for stuff that's off topic but loosely related... This doesn't include politics but does include other sports. The idea is a place for items that are not Patriots related but similar in topic to items we routinely discuss...
Sixers were on fumes and Toronto is a different team with Siakam neutralized. I think the Celts may have exposed him for the rest of his career... and he walks on almost every play.
Toronto has two gnats and some really good role players... all of who are very athletic and well coached...
....but Kemba deserved the foul call at the end of regulation. I don't know why Brad didn't challenge. There was clearly a slap across his forearm.
A foul there and the Celts probably win.
NBA officiating continues to smell of a choreography. Lowry turns into Robert Williams' elbow (despite Williams facing the opposite direction) and the refs give him the call. Why is that a foul? Because the refs are playing into Lowry's "caginess". Essentially, Williams' infraction was for...
Horrible scheme and horrible execution on one play. The only way to lose in that situation is to leave one player completely wide open.
We really don't know if it was Tatum or Brown since we don't know the exact defense called. No question we don't blame further than assign responsibility for...
I sure we can debate for a long time about the long list of his strengths and the short list of his weaknesses. The one strength that surpasses all others and attributed more to the dynasty (dynasties?)...
Not being greedy. No team can win without a team and him accepting less allowed others to...
Answer: No! The horse just weren't in the stables. His arm is fine and his legs were never his strength. His best asset has always been his decision making. He suffered between having too many less than ideal options and limited time to make a choice.
I was on a Facebook thread and the Patriots "Dark Days" were brought up, to which I replied:
"That's the funny thing... We remember the dark days, but really they were the dark day. 90 to 92 and 93 they were on the upswing. 60's were mostly reasonably competitive, 70's started bad but gained...
I thought the implications warranted it's own discussion.
It seems there was value to be had from Hoyer. Colts could have traded a sixth or seventh rounder and saved millions. Were there any other suitors?
Did the Pats release him as a statement? For all the complaints about the Patriot way...
Even if they win they get a misdemeanor conviction and look like fools in the process...
1) Their original pretext was chasing human trafficking and that has been proven to be baseless
2) Their traffic stops look baseless too
3) Their surveillance looks more like a peeping-tom adventure than an...
The replay refs probably got the Benjamin call right. But in a replay, probably means stick to the original call. When a play is so close it taks a frame by frame analysis to see a distinction, stick to the play on the field.
Did anyone else think it looked more like he fell awkwardly into the block than an intentional block? I know players make dirty hits all the time by pretending to recoil from action, but it didn't seem like that to me.
This call is a controversy because nobody really knows the rules...
The pylon itself is out of bounds. The moment a player strikes the pylon he is out of bounds too. It's fairly clear he lost complete control before he crossed the goal line. Two questions remain: did the ball cross the goal...
Is it fixable communications issues or more severe? Coming into the season many thought this was an elite secondary, but now it's playing like the worst in the league.
Lawyer sues for wrongful death on behalf of Aaron's daughter. If they sue for breach of contract the money belongs to Aaron's estate and would be subject to claims of victims. Any money they get on this case whether viewed as extortion or hush money would not be attachable by the murder victims...
The OPI flag that was picked up... I just read "it was a borderline call". Anyone else think that call wasn't 100% correct (The call to pickup the flag)?
And while at it... Wasn't the pick play used by the Saints on their touchdown OPI? Does it really make a difference that the receiver causing...
