The East is going to be a race between PSU, OSU and Michigan. Michigan should have a pretty good team and gets both OSU and MSU at home.

East:

1. Ohio State
2. Penn State
3. Michigan
4. Michigan State
5. Maryland
6. Indiana
7. Rutgers

West:

1. Wisconsin
2. Minnesota
3. Nebraska
4. Iowa
5. Northwestern
6. Illinois
7. Purdue

I would be stunned if Wisconsin didn't win the West, not only are they probably the best team, they get Indiana and Maryland from the East and Michigan at home. That's by far the easiest schedule of the top 4 contending teams. Main reason I think Minnesota finishes 2nd. Plus Minnesota gets Wisconsin & Nebraska both at home.

You are losing, what, 18 starters, 10 of which were defense? You still have a mediocre game manager under center and no real home run threat at running back. You may end up being pretty good but it is definitely not something you can say with any certainty now.

Yes, but "starter" is a bit ambiguous. Guys replacing the "starters" on D-line are Mone, Hurst and Winovich. All three played in at least 10 games last season Hurst and Winovich in 12+. Both landing in the top 10 on the team in terms of tackles; both above returning "starter" Rashan Gary. The same thing can be said about many positions on both offense and defense, except probably LB. So I'm not too worried about losing "starters" as many of the guys behind them saw significant playing time and theoretically have more raw talent than the players they're replacing.

At RB, I actually think that's an upgrade. I hated Smith. He was a great pass blocker but a terrible running back. Most of the time last year his YPC were below 3 and rarely cracked 100 yards per game. I'm pretty excited about what we saw with Evans last year, and Higdon + Kareem Walker make a pretty decent group. Smith was in against FSU last year for most of the game and managed only 36 yards on 16 carries. Evans came in and stole the show with 49 yards on 8 carries and a TD. I think we're getting a significant upgrade at that position. I think you'll find Evans had far more YPC in most games the last half of the season.

Michigan has had great recruits and a great coach (I know everybody else hates Harbaugh), but if your gonna ask who is going to win the B1G in 2017 there is only one answer: MICHIGAN.

A little homerism - absolutely. I am incapable of rational thought way before the season starts. I know where we've been and I hope I am right on where we are going.

We've already discussed this. michigan is in worse shape than OSU was last season in regards to lost personnel. Nearly every major playmaker on both sides of the ball has left. Your defensive backfield is a mess. Your DL will be fine, but it won't matter against OSU, and PSU is going to be a problem for you in Happy Valley as well. Speight is still mediocre at best, and your WRs/TEs/RBs are all very green. There is "talent" in regards to star rankings, but very little in terms of actual substance on the field.

OSU and PSU are clearly 1 and 2, and michigan is a notch or two below. 2018 is a different story, but this is not going to be michigan's year.

I still maintain that enough players played last season where they aren't as fresh as people make them out to be. The RB position is a great example of losing a starter where the backups not only have a good amount of experience, but out performed the starter last season.

I'm also not concerned about a team we beat by 39 points last year.

Right, because VT would've had no problem beating OSU by 14 by the end of the season in 2014, too. That was one of your stupider comments.

Maybe michigan will be OK. However, keep in mind Harbaugh hasn't won more than 10 games in his two years, and that was with tons of experienced, NFL-level talent at key positions.

Penn St. over Wisconsin in the CCG.

This is what I was thinking off the top of my head, except I don't think Minnesota will drop so much and I think whoever has the easier B1G schedule between PSU, OSU, and Michigan wins the East.

Given where we were two years ago, that's an impressive feat. I believe a lot of those guys have Harbaugh to thank for their NFL stock.

Great. Now explain to me what bearing that has when playing a talented, top 10 team returning a ton of talent next year and playing them on the road? You'll lose. Again, one of your dumber comments.

Expect 8-4, hope for 10-2 if you're a michigan fan. Or just be disappointed again.

Because Michigan has more talent.

I agree with most of this here. UM's returns one starter on defense, though I'm happy with our DL (Winovich and Gary at DE, Mone and Hurst at DT, with Solomon coming in too) -- I'm also fine with the LB's, as I think they will be a faster group this year. The secondary is what scares me -- UM has a ton of raw talent at CB, but until you show you can get it done on Saturday's. You don't know why you have.

Offensively -- I'm fine with the OL and it should be filled with recruits brought in by Harbaugh. With the addition of Indiana's OL coach, I think we will see a very good OL. I'm also very happy with the RB position. Chris Evans averaged 7 yards a carry as a true freshman. He added 20 lbs of muscle and didn't lose any speed or quickness. He will be one of the best RB's UM has had in some time. I'm also fine with the QB position -- if Speight beats out Peters, he will have earned it. No coach in the country can coach up the QB position like Harbaugh. Every QB that has started for him, including FCS Josh Johnson, has went on to the NFL.

The part I'm worried about -- TE and WR. UM has a lot of depth at TE, but won't know until Saturday's if the talent translates to games. Same with WR. A ton of talent and options, but who steps up on saturdays?

I see UM winning 8 or 9 games. Next year will be the year where all the expectations start and they will continue each year as he will have a team of his own recruits. Too many true freshman and sophomores will be relied upon this year.

Those NFL ready players did their job. Hell, OSU scored 3 points on offense in regulation last year against UM. It isn't a big secret what position UM hasn't had? It is the position who cost UM a win in all 3 losses last year.

UM has had a different QB the last three years, with the possibility of a 4th in 4 years if Peters wins the job. No position on the football field is more important to a programs success than QB. The one team who gets away with nothing spectacular at QB and still chase titles yearly is Alabama and no team can recruit like them.

If Harbaugh is the coach that Michigan fans say he is, it won't matter the talent he lost/or is coming back.
He's going all the way, baby!!!!

Good grief these unbalanced conference schedules suck. How the hell can you really tell who is the CC? Last year Wisconsin's got the shaft in the crossover. Who's gettin' screwed this year?

And this year they may even have QBs on par with the quality of the rest of their positions. Game over if that is the case IMHO.
