That's nothing more than the same thing we heard during the Wilson negotiations. Hawks saying what they will, or will not do, now during that phase is utter nonsense. If they did offer him guarantees I'm pissed. Kam doesn't deserve a single thing.

I still expect him Monday and if he isn't in by then I'd bet there is at least an 80% chance we never see him in a Seahawks uniform again.

I think he reports next week and that the team and Kam agree to some face saving deal in which he gets no new money but gets some brought forward.

If you look back at why he held out to begin with it was because he wants guarantees for 2016 and 2017. If what the Hawks offer up for Chancellor is true, at least a partial guarantee for 2016 then it should be a win/win for both sides. He'd be stupid not to bite on it.

Come week 1 if he doesn't show up. He's as good as gone, they'd just need to trade him. my stance is with the Hawks.

If we do end up trading Kam, I doubt it'll be before the season starts. Isn't the trading deadline at Week 6? I could see us moving him then, and hopefully for OL help + draft picks

Also, some of his teammates who are supporting him for holding out claiming he should go get his money. I dare them to restructure their contracts for less money so a portion of it could go to him. With each and every day he continue to hold out, I lose more respect for him. Even Irvin who supported the hold out from the beginning is calling for Kam to come back, because quite frankly, this team needs him.

Whatever information he's been getting, it's completely ill-advised. The first thing he need to do is dump his agent.

Good point ...

That sounds about right. To me this is way more likely than (in decreasing order): holding out for the first 10 games, trading him, or cutting him.

At what time does he lose a year on his contract?
He must be available for 6 games, so he can miss the first 10 voluntarily, come back after that and get credit.

Emmitt did it, missed two games (Dallas lost both) and came back to win the rushing title, help give Dallas a 12-4 record and HFA through the playoffs, win the SB, and Smith got SB MVP.

maybe kam is trying for the same?

That's about as good as a success story as it get's for a player holding out and then coming back... Dam ... Show's you the impact Emmit had on that offense back in the day....

Does he have to play in 6 or just be available for 6?

If he misses regular season games, Seattle should stick him with all the fines he owes.. He's also gonna lose 267,647 a week from what I read .... Dude is off his rocker if he misses regular season games...

Would Kam Chancellor sit out the year?

This is the part that bugs me.

"He really feels that they have the ability to pay him.”"

They MIGHT have the ability to pay but they also can't be held up by every player that feels like they deserve more money. If the simply give him what he thinks he deserves then what stops Michael Bennett from doing the same? And then Cliff Avril?

He's put himself and the team into a pretty tough situation and he is going to lose because ultimately a year of football is far more valuable to him than it is to the team. That will 4.5 million he will never get back.

That may not be how he's looking at it. Players don't break down because of age, they break down from the beating they take. Kam may look at this year's salary as something that he can make on the backend under a better situation contractually.

Then he isn't doing himself any favors. MAYBE he can extend his contract one more year. Maybe he hurts himself next year and is out of football.

It's just not a smart approach which is why no player does this.

But that's why he wants the guarantees now. If he gets hurt now, he's essentially screwed.

And I don't mean extending his contract to make up for this one. I mean extending his career. Let's say he feels like he has 4-5 years left of play... By playing this year he takes that down to 3-4 years, by sitting, he'll still have 4-5 years.

Kam and his agent should a considered that when they signed on the dotted line 2 years ago.... That's where his agent is giving him horrible advice right now...

I'm just trying to have some perspective. Yes, perhaps he should have waited to see if he could have got a better deal. Just like the Hawks should have never signed Harvin. But both did what they did because it was the "smart" decision at the time. And both had regrets and have paid penalties for those decisions. But if a guy doesn't want to go through 16+ car accidents at his current wage, I can't fault him. That's his decision to make.

But that's just it, the NFL teams have to sign on the dotted line, but all their signatures come with a huge * attached to them. (non guaranteed contract)

So the NFL is protected from having to pay out to guys who underperform their signed deal. But the players ONLY leverage against overperforming their signed contract is to hold out.

So it goes.

Anyway, the dotted line should cut both ways, but it doesn't. Only one side gets cut.

I've a lot split feelings on this. At the end of the day, both parties need to do what's best for themselves. Love Kam, but do not want to see the Seahawks cave in on this matter, other then maybe guarantee on more year for injuries. Not sure even that is a good idea, because it opens a pandora box. Other players will feel that holding out can be rewarded and that's not good for the Seahawks.:gaah:

Just hope Kam caves in, and shows up for the regular season opener. Otherwise this is going to get ugly.
