gruden hot seat ?

Need to Know: Tandler's Take—Jay Gruden know the pressure is on him in 2018

i would say a big hell yes . he got the 5 years he should have got . last year sucked because injuries derailed a good team but he has the weapons on defense now to make a jump

now he needs to start putting up consistent playoff appearances starting with this year or another rebuild will be in effect with a new coach and staff

If we win 8-10 games an just miss a playoff birth I don't think he gets fired. Alex Smith wanted to come here b/c of Gruden. So I think he at least gets another three more season unless something catastrophic happens. IF we do have a bad year, I don't think that we will, Manusky will be the scape goat not Gruden.

Alex Smith wanted to come here for a long term contract...money.

i dont see 8 wins cutting the mustard , 9 would be shaky

i say by year 5 the rebuild is over and competing for championships is in . he has to make the playoffs minimum . a win would ice it , but you cant justify the smith trade without a couple of playoff wins ( one at least)

but to throw out 8 wins or 9 wins and missing the playoffs and still treading water wreaks of incompetence

who the f&^k cares if he wins 8-10 games? Hes not winning a SB. Hes not going to be competing for a SB. That should be the teams goal.

There are no superbowl aspirations with Alex Smith so I got to ask you. What is the point?

Grudes is on the hotseat, but I think 8 wins keeps him safe this year.

getting to the playoffs should be enough. Sometimes 10 and 9 win teams miss the playoffs. I think Gruden and Smith are tied together.

if you made a move to get a new qb saying the old one was an impediment to winning a playoff game then not getting a win is a fail plain and simple .

if you are in year 5 of a program you need to start winning playoff games as a coach.

so far i have been off grudens case because i said 5 years ago he needed 5 years and i dont move off my corp principals unlike others

he needs to win a playoff game and move forward

I agree 100% with this post. Year 5 for Gruden, most talent he has had and results should not only reflect the talent, but decision making for Gruden who has had enough time to figure out a winning formula. It's time to put up or shut up Gruden. Anything less than 10 wins is unacceptable to me. I really don't care what the excuses are if the team doesn't win 10 games. Offense or defense, no finger pointing. You don't win 10 games you are likely not in the playoffs. This team in his 5th year should be good enough, coached well enough and will likely not see another year decimated with injuries to win 10 games.
I have never been comfortable enough with Gruden to call him a great coach but to give him some credit for what he had accomplished to date [losing record], I still think he is a good coach with a very innovative offensive mind. But as dad said, this is year 5 and its time to start winning. Alas, I still don't believe we get those 10 wins.

Snyder should be on the hot seat

He has driven this franchise into the ground. I understand the purpose of profit sharing but I often wish Snyder would feel the damage he has created financially. 110,000 seat stadium is now what a 70,000 seat stadium? 30 year season ticket waiting list has turned into sales pitches asking people to purchase season tickets. Leading NFL jersey sales in DMV is Carson Wentz? I'm starting to think that Snyder may genuinely be an evil man.

As for Gruden. I think hes fired in the next year or 2. I also think the thrives and becomes a very good NFL coach when he gets a second stint with a more functional organization.

Why do you think Gruden is fired in the next year or 2? Second, if I'm not mistaken and could very well be, isn't Gruden in his last contract year or does he have 1 more? Depending on the contract, he may very well be gone after this season which would be very unfortunate for everyone in the organization.
If Snyder doesn't want to sell, then he must part with Bruce Allen sooner than later to risk losing a complete fan base. A smart business person would have to realize his product is currently inferior, tainted by approach and in need of R & R, (repair & reconfiguration) to improve, stimulate and re-energize the fan base. Let's hope something is being done behind the scenes to start this process.
