And you don't think there's anyway Saban could have done it in a much easier Big 10 like Dantonio did? Dantonio beat zero ranked teams during the regular season in both 2013 and 2014. You dont think Saban could have done that? That's absurd.

He had 5 years. He didnt take over a train wreck. He took over a .500 program. Thru 4 years, they were the exact same .500 program. It isn't like Saban took over and the program transformed. They literally had ONE SEASON where the bounces went their way.

Here they are 3 years before Saban, the 5 with Saban and the 3 years after Saban:

5, 6, 6 -- 6, 6, 7, 6, 9 -- 5, 7, 4

Which season sticks out like a sore thumb?

You obviously care or you wouldn't bring it up every time he gets you rustled. Also, Saban is better than Jimmy in every aspect of CFB and has the resume to prove.

Where have I brought up him attending a game? I couldn't care less about that. I live literally 20 minutes from the Big House with access to go to every home game and I rarely go, as it is a pain in the ass with the traffic.

And Harbaugh has already done something twice in two years that Saban couldn't do in the B1G in 5 years. Win 10 games in a season. Hell, Saban only won more than 7 once in 5 years.

Fun fact; John L Smith has more Big Ten coach of the Years than Urban Meyer, Lloyd Carr, Nick Saban, Jim Tressel, and Jim Harbaugh COMBINED!!! Obviously Harbaugh and Saban are shit coaches if JLS has more B1G CoY than them.

Super impressed by that 3rd place divisional finish. I could do that shit with all the talent Harbs had.

You don't go 4-2 against ranked teams by pure luck. Which brings me back to my original point of Saban having to do it in a much tougher environment. And who knows what he could have done had he stayed. Seemed like he was starting to turn around the mess he inherited.

Who wouldn't leave a job when you can earn double what you were?

I'm thinking 3rd is pretty good, seeing as how Saban finished 5th, 5th, 6th and 6th his first 4 years.

Then again, when Saban has the SEC advantages taken away, he was nothing more than a mediocre B1G coach. I will give him props though, he failed for 5 years before giving up at MSU. He only failed for two years in the NFL.

He couldn't wait to get back to that "level playing field"

Yes because going to Michigan with two top 10 recruiting classes on the roster is the same as going to MSU under sanctions and a poor team. There was talent at Michigan when Harbaugh got there, there wasn't any at MSU when Saban got there. Jesus I need to bathe in acid for defending Saban.

A different football topic just for a moment...

Here's why Bill Belichick isn't that great of a coach. He had a lower winning % (.450) his 4 years in Cleveland than Saban had (.469) his 2 years in Miami. So it's clear now that a HC (no matter what sport) should always be judged completely on 1 small portion of their coaching careers. Advantage: you know who.

Didnt that poor team play .500 football for George Perles or did they get worse over time? MSU returned Tony Banks (2nd round pick in the NFL), returned Mushin Muhammad (2nd round pick in the NFL) and Derrick Mason (4th round pick in the NFL). You returned Marc Renaud at RB who averaged 5.5 YPC splitting carries the year before.

Seems to be a little more than nothing to me. I can't vouche for the defense. I don't remember who they had and don't feel like looking it up.

I can only imagine the medal Saban got for 2 fifth place finishes and 2 sixth place finishes in the B1G. Can't be as nice as that one.

Michigan had 13 players drafted the last two years that Harbaugh had nothing to do with bringing to Ann Arbor.

For a comparison over that same period,
Oklahoma 8 - two big 12 titles and a playoff appearance
Michigan State 7 - one big 10 title and a playoff appearance
Clemson 15 - two ACC titles, two playoff appearances and a natty
Penn State 6 - one big 10 title
Washington 7 - one PAC title and a playoff appearance
Stanford 7 - one PAC title
Alabama 17 - two SEC titles, two playoff appearances, and a natty

That's every team that has won a major conference the last two years.
Just for shits and giggles
Ohio State 19 - no Big 10 titles and a playoff appearance.

And Michigan fans will tell you that those two recruiting classes that were top ten that produced 13 NFL players, were busts.
