Maybe the real police. And something that serious, you might wanna check in with said president and university police to make sure something is being done about instead of being swept under a rug.

They are the real police.

Because in all Paterno's spare time he is supposed to second guess professional law enforcement officers about their job performance.

I witnessed a hit and run a couple years ago, got a picture of the lady as she was driving away and went with the victims to file a police report. Fuck me for not following up afterwards to make sure the police did their job and found the lady that rear ended that poor old couple. I totally forgot my duty to be an amateur detective/lawyer and make sure justice was served.

As someone who has been arrested by campus police, I can tell you with 100% confidence that they are "real police". It's like saying you need to call the state police because the local cops aren't "real police."

Like campus cops have never been known to keep some things in house. Something like possible child molestation shouldn't be put in the hands of the schools cops. I'm pretty sure they have little experience with child molesters on a college campus. The animal was there doing it for many years. But you have confidence. Good for you.

You don't have the pull or influence that Paterno had, and a hit and run incident isn't near on the same level as one of your assistant coaches having sex with underaged boys.

For something as serious as one of your assistants having sex with underaged boys, I'm probably calling at least the local sheriff department.

First of all . Joe Pa knew he had been investigated before and so when someone new , a few years later says he thinks or saw his head assistant in the shower naked with a little boy you think only tell people who work for the school is good enough? I bet you a million dollars Paterno and every other big wig at Penn State would have never left one of their grandkids near Sandusky. But they let him bring young troubled kids around.

Even if you somehow don't blame Paterno, I don't know how you could think this would be a good move for University by any means. Its just dumb.

Here's the thing, it's not Paterno's decision to go to the state police. He contacted the proper authorities and from there, if the campus police are not capable of handling it, they move up the chain. It's like saying if there's a missing person, you don't call the police, you call the FBI because they handle those things. Paterno could have and should have done more, but to say he did nothing and didn't call "real cops" is just plain ignorant.

So we're in agreement.

It is complete stupidity and somebody should have been more aware of the repercussions of bringing in Paterno's son.

I hope Ohio State and Michigan beats PSU by a combined score of 150-0 this season.

Joe was Penn State. If he didn't make a big fuss then the others weren't going to make a big fuss. If he wanted shit done and investigated then it would have happened with the FBI being called in. But it was kept between people who worked or got paid by Penn State. No one wanted this out no one wanted to turn over any stones to see whats been going on. They all wanted it to go away so Penn State wouldn't get bad press. Why would Sandusky "retire" on his own when he was the top assistant of an old ass coach when all he's ever done is coach football?

Every level of police had been busted for covering shit up, so to act like it's not possible for city/state cops to have covered it up then you are just being ignorant. Would you call a different county to investigate a crime Because you don't trust the county you live in? The campus is in the jurisdiction of the campus police.

I'm not stupid enough to think that something that would embarrass Penn state and the football team wouldn't get treated differently from people whos bread is buttered by Penn State.

So if you have your car stolen in LA are you calling LAPD or are you calling the CIA?

Seriously , are you this slow? The LAPD have no reason to not get to the bottom of my car being stolen. The odds that they would be affected by catching the guy is minuscule. I'm no one to them. But if you're a campus cop for a big university in a college town thats all about the football team and you get a call that maybe the former assistant football coach was caught messing with little boys then there's some serious conversation about what to do and how to handle it.

Not a fan... just an alum tired of know nothing trolls trying to paint with a wide brush.

Don't be a tool. Joe Paterno had reason to think one of his assistants might be fucking kids. Any decent human being would have made it a priority to follow up on what might be happening and make double damn sure it wasn't true. Joe didn't do that. He turned a blind eye to a potentially nasty problem in his program and his reputation deserves to be pulled down in the mud and stepped on. He simply did not try hard enough to find out the truth.

But the LAPD is the epitome of covering up crimes, it's reasonable to assume that they will just cover it up because they don't give a shit. You should just assume they aren't going to try and find your car and go over their heads.
