Interesting, I figured Crick would still be a starter, but it looks like he's a bullpen guy now (again). Good start for him, after a strong spring. Still has great stuff, maybe he can salvage something after all.

Here's a weird one for ya @Stokes1931 . In Richmond (AA), the Squirrels sent Infielder Rando Moreno to the mound in a tie game in the 9th inning, and he pitched a scoreless inning. In the 10th, Outfielder Tyler Horan relieves Moreno and pitched the 10th, giving up 1 run.

Altoona, Richmond's opponent, then brought in Infielder Chase Simpson to close out the game in the bottom of the 10th, where Chris Shaw hit a walk-off

Arroyo has been off to a hot start. Hit in every game so far.

Crick has 3 innings and no walks....

Love seeing Kelvin Beltre on here. Kid needs to stay healthy, he has immense potential.

I don't think Garcia will last in San Jose for long.

Good first starts for Jordan Johnson and Stephen Woods

Interesting that they would do that in Richmond. Not like the bullpen was used very much at that point. Hey, maybe Moreno and Horan see their best shot with the big league club as light hitting fielders/mediocre relievers. Its the Giants' Way!

I would agree that Woods did well but Johnson's start is meh to me. 4 innings and 7 baserunners teeters on bad. He would need to go at least one more inning and give up any baserunners for me to consider it good.

Yeah, I highlighted that in shorthand on the summary. That's a strange one, especially so early in the season.

He was off to a great start before his non-catching related injury last year. I'm sure they held him back just to keep him in a familiar environment just to get him going, and they'll challenge him soon.

He's come a long, long way with his defense behind the plate, and he's always had a decent bat. Great guy too, not really sure if he has the leadership qualities you want out of a catcher though. He's quiet, but not like a Buster Posey quiet. Better that than being troubled though.

I can live with the hits, the 4-1 K/BB ratio is nice. I think he only went 4 because he's still building arm strength. He had a relief appearance earlier, which makes me think he was set back a bit in Spring Training. With Blackburn now gone, Dan Slania was sent to AAA, so it looks like Johnson is back in the rotation full time and hopefully going deeper into games.

If Slania was, in fact, promoted, than I don't see Blackburn returning, even if he clears waivers. There just isn't room for him anymore.

Chris Shaw played LF in Richmond last night and is again playing LF tonight.
They learned their lesson with Duvall.

If he puts up numbers, it is not outside the realm of possibility we see him this year...

The one name I cannot find anywhere and it puzzles me is Josmil Pinto. He was signed to a minor league deal on 12/19/16 and got an invitation to spring training. Around the Hoghorn even listed him as one of the catchers coming to camp on 2/12/17. He did not appear in any spring training games and he isn't on any rosters, yet I cannot find anything about him being injured, retired or released. Its like he completely disappeared. Usually, there is something about former big leaguers on MLB Rumors or Baseball Reference. But there is nothing about him. I'd love to see him catching Sacramento (I prefer him over Federowicz as the emergency guy) but, right now, that catching duo is Jeff Arnold and Eliezer Zambrano (striking fear in the hearts of all pitchers).
