So this is new for Arroyo that I think it pretty exciting. Here's a gif of his swing the other day.

First off, it is a really pretty swing.

Second, he did not have this leg kick before. Seems like he's added it this spring. He's always kind of had a compact load, just straight to the ball, not unlike Joe Panik (see his "old" swing here).

The leg kick allows for guys to transfer their weight more consistently through their swing, and drive the ball more. The downside is that leg kicks can cause swing to get a bit longer and result in more swings and misses, unless you are like Buster Posey and have strong upper half (back and core) and just great, quick bat-to-ball ability. Here's the real exciting part... Arroyo has 4 strikeouts so far in 43 ABs. He's making contact and spraying line drives all over the field. He's always had a pretty decent strikeout rate, but this is incredibly promising to see him making this much contact with a "new" swing (updated really) at a new level as one of the youngest guys in AAA.

Still a SSS for sure, he needs to keep this up. But he's lighting it up right now and building quite a bit of hype, both among SF fans and minor league scouts.

Reyes Moronta didn't strike anyone out. What a scrub.

Krook is indeed on the Crick start right now, but hopefully he can make a turn for the better. He's got lights out stuff, and is still only 2 years removed from TJ surgery.

Another homer tonight, 12 game hit streak.

I don't think they should bring him up now, personally. There's no where to put him, and that's a ton of pressure to put on the kid to basically ask to turn this offense around. I'm already worried fans' expectations are going to be too high. He's not going to be a 20-homer, 100 RBI guy.

Now could very well be the worst time to bring him up.

He's got to go through a cold streak at AAA first...to learn how to adjust.

I think mid June.

I want to say somewhere around mid May.
A lot of talk today on KNBR that that may be what they are looking at for Arroyo.

If that is what they are doing, I am ok with that. But the Giants don't have a history of paying any attention to that, so I doubt that is the case.

I remember questioning the Giants calling up Bumgarner and Posey in Sept 2009 because it started the service clock early on both of them. Hindsight tells me that wasn't as important as I thought it was.

I highly doubt the Giants care much about that. As you said, they don't have a history of caring and they shouldn't now.

The cutoff is typically early June, but with the season starting earlier (slightly), it could leak into late May.

I wonder if a professional baseball player has ever made 100 errors in a season?

Single-Season Leaders &amp Records for Errors Committed | Baseball-Reference.com

122 by Herman Long in 1889

Most errors committed in a career:

Herman Long, 1889-1904 (1,096)

Yes, he was a shortstop. And yes, gloves were smaller then. But Herman Long managed to commit 1,096 errors while playing just 1,875 games. That’s amazing. It’s an average of more than one error every other day.
