AAA roster:

C8gaM6-W0AIdzn0.jpg:large

Probable rotation: Beede-Blackburn-Gregorio-Suarez-Stratton-Crick. Deep group, coupled with the AA group.... Wow.

Bullpen looks pretty deep as well, tons of lefties. It's very possible Gregorio joins this group. Ryan Webb was just signed today.

Possible lineup:

C-FedX
1B-Jones
2B-Tomlinson
SS-Arroyo
3B-Hwang
LF-Slater
CF-Bernard
RF-Ruggiano
DH-Blanks

This is a deep lineup, and an ever-changing one. I predict there won't be the same defense out there game to game once all year. Arroyo will see time at SS, 3B, 2B and maybe LF. Tomlinson will see time at 2B, SS, and LF. Hwang will see time at 3B, LF and 1B. Ryder Jones will see time at 1B, 3B and LF. Calixte will see time in CF, LF, RF, SS, 2B, and 3B. Bernard will play all 3 OF spots. Ali Castillo was one of the best defenders on the roster last year, he'll see time at 2B and SS.

So there we have it.
Where is Brownie?

In a couple of days, typically on Opening Day for the minor leagues, Baseball America typically posts the rosters on their website and a list of players placed on minor league disabled lists. Most of the guys missing from the rosters will probably be on that 2nd list.

In addition to Beckham and Hernandez, the Giants released 6 minor league players. Three names stick out to me - Travious Relaford, Mitchell Delfino and Ricky Oropesa. Relaford had been suspended for illegal substances while both Delfino and Oropesa were once borderline prospects who both struggled in the upper minors. None are surprises but it makes official what farm system watches were probably expecting.

Tyler Mizenko, Jeff Spotic, Raul Rivero, and Anthony Usui have been released as well

I really don't get the Giants knee jerk reaction to the outfield. Knock it off FO! Give these guys some space to fail or succeed. Five games does not define a career. Drew Stubbs and Melvin Upton, Jr are not the answer and you are killing the guys in the organization who deserve a shot at the next level. Looking at the minor league rosters, there are way too many org fillers in the upper minors outfields. I'd rather see some of the prospects getting an shot at the next level than signing guys like Drew Stubbs, Ryan Lollis and Chris Garcia.

I am OK with Upton. He played well for SD last year, and he offers a decent option to LF/CF should the need arise.

I don't really get the Stubbs signing, though.

Yeah but then Upton hit more like he's done from 2013 onward when he got shipped to Toronto.

Here's my take, if the org doesn't have confidence in Morse and Ruggiano, then let them go! Otherwise, Stubbs and Upton just take up roster space in the farm that should go to other guys. Too many outfielders.

I think it has more to do with Span than any of the other guys.

Again, I don't understand Stubbs. But Upton is a no-risk, moderate reward signing.

I don't see anything from The Braves' camp that leads me to think they're close to putting a viable team together.
Their big move in the off season was signing 2 fat forty something pitchers.
It makes no sense IF the team competes for a playoff spot in the near future those guys will be long retired.

I think if things develop we might contend for a playoff spot in 2020.

Upton lost it years ago and it ain't coming back.
