I agree, but now there are reports the Clev might take Mitch T #1 and not Garrett, so are we back to the same old Browns? Not sure that is the right move. You might be able to get Mitch at #12, and is this kid a Manning, Luck type QB that you can take at #1, or is Clev getting desperate? So again does Clev get desperate and offer #12 to NE for Jimmy? I really don't think #12 has been even offered to NE in any types of talk. I am pretty sure BB has listened to Clev, like he should. IDK. I think it would be hard for BB to pass up on #12 because he could turn that into about 3 more picks in this draft and possible another 1st rd pick next.
How much is just talk to feel out other teams? Does someone have Mitch on their radar SF, CHI who may want to jump to # 1 for him? Since bringing Depodesta in Cleveland loves to stock pile picks. Say Chi trades #3 for #1 along with another early pick this year or next maybe Cleveland takes it. Otherwise I can't see Cleveland passing on Garrett.

I hear ya, but is passing on Garrett worth moving down a couple picks? If Garrett is as good as they say, a can't miss player, why would you pass on that? How many more picks does Clev need in this draft. At some point they have to shit or get off the pot. They could load up in this draft is the played their cards right.

Who says SF takes Garrett at #2? So Cleveland puts a ? in Chicago's mind saying they want Mitch. Chi jumps to # 1 take Mitch. Who knows what SF does? Maybe just maybe Garrett is there at 3?
I wouldn't take the chance but I'm not a GM. I just play one on the hoop, lol

I hear ya. LOL...so I'll be the other GM. Clev moves to 3, Chicago take Mitch, SF gets a call from #4/5 teams and jumps Clev for Garrett...Now Clev missed out on both guys. HAHA....considering this is Clev, ya know it can happen.

Jaws stated that there is not a QB in this years draft that is worthy of a round one pick. Now if this is true and I think it may be accurate, Cleve taking Garrett #1 then working a deal for Jimmy either 12 or multiple picks in round 2 + make a lot of sense.

Do Not Believe This Rumor! I'm not saying it's impossible to believe but their motives to throw out the smoke screen is too great. They're beating the grass to see what snakes will come out....

They might want to see is NE reaches out to them about JG. If NE initiates, the cost will be less. They might also be getting feelers for a trade from someone who wants Garrett. They want other teams to come to them to start any of a number of possible negotiations....

I think that Houston may shock the shit out of the football world.........

First....they have a boatload of defensive talent on the team
Second.....Savage blew a knew, then a shoulder and last year his head (concussion)
Third.....Bill O'Brien has steer the ship to three 9-7 seasons and 2017 could be 10-6 with a rudderless offense
Fourth ....another first round playoff loss could cost O'Brien his job

From MY point of view, Bundling up a couple of players and their first round pick for JG would put Houston in the AFC South driver seat. How about JJ Watt (coming off surgery), Kareem Jackson (29 years old, still has 4.4 speed) and their first rounder. Watt would be the perfect bookend with Tre Flowers and Jackson would be the perfect slot CB. More than likely, BB would trade out of the first round with the #25 and pick up a couple of extra picks.

Houston may be more desperate than Cleveland.

I'll pass on Watt, ya I know....I'll take the picks and draft a stud DE for way less. NE is heavy on the DE and CB it seems in this draft process.

SF says it's open for business. Not sure if that means anything for NE, but I still find it hard that BB would pass on a top 15 1st rd pick to keep Jimmy. It just doesn't seem like a BB thing. NOW, that also could mean that no team has offered a 1st and no team will. Maybe that is where BB is right now...Shit....maybe we can get two 1st's for MB and JG...

I'm not a fan of JJ's showmanship. But adding a pass rusher of his caliber to this D, fogetaboudit

I hear ya, but looking at the UFA next yr, it's a LONG list. He will eat up cap space that we may need (esp if we keep Jimmy G). Getting that young kid for 4/5 yrs is going to be nice for this team.

Well unless BB finds a diamond in the rough I don't see a dominant pass rusher being available in the 3rd or later? NE has the cap room to facilitate this. TB is getting any younger. All in if they could pull this off. I don't think you're totally mortgaging the farm with a move like this.

Agree, but if we are keeping Jimmy, then we are younger already and you'll need to pay him and Cooks. IDk, anything can happen. It would be interesting.

That kind of trade at least the way I am looking at it would pretty much be like Houston giving up 3 1st round picks and a 2nd. JJ Watt even with his injury would garner 2 1st round picks from some team wanting his talent. Then throw in the actual 1st round pick and I would say Jackson is probably worth a 2nd round pick to the Texans. Seems like a lot of value going out the window and that defense maybe taking a step back with a couple of really nice pieces leaving.

Only way I would like this is if we got the 57th as well with a contingency on Watt. He seems to be all Gronk with his injuries. NE gets next years 2nd or 3rd if Watt ends up on injured reserve or something.
And could then work a deal with NO and Butler for a less than 1st (42nd).

I would say some of you are highly underestimating the value of JJ Watt and overestimating the value of Jimmy G. Gronk for example even with all of his injuries would still fetch a 1st and more from some team to get his services. JJ Watt having been the best and most consistent defensive player in the league over the past 5 years before this injury would still fetch at least 2 1st round picks. To me I would think the Texans are overpaying just by giving up Watt for Jimmy G. straight up. You have a proven player that looks like he is heading towards a HOF career at a critical position compared to a QB with just a few starts.

I completely understand that sentiment. I just think the risk of J.J. Watt, or Gronk at this point, kind of negates some of his value.

But I did just do a quick wiki..and it turns out he was injured '15 and '16. Not nearly as much as I had believed for some reason.

So I am recanting somewhat. Not a first & second. But still some contingency if he ends up on PUP with back issues.
No one has ever "had" a bad back.
Once bad..always bad.
