I can get that. But from an injury standpoint, I would be leary that we are getting a first round version of DJax.... great when he is on the field... but a few too many nagging injuries... never to the same portion of the body. But always just enough to miss a few games a season.

That would be a little annoying (though 22 y/o DJax would be worth a 1st round pick easily) but it could happen to anybody we take really. I just dont want to spent a 1st rounder on a receiver period.

Here is the problem... I would love to take Ross, despite my misgivings about a possible freak injury magnet status that he might hold. But not at 17. And if we trade back to say 30, either the team we traded with would take him at 17, or the Titans will take him at 18 or the Lions at 21. I wouldnt be upset with a true 3 down RB, a D-lineman or an ILB.

If we took Ross at 17, I would be irked... if we take a QB there might (read as will) be a 40MM long handled wrench embedded into the garage wall.

Ill be annoyed with a RB, QB, or WR. Theyre all bad too me. DL, LB, DB are our best options IMO.

See I wouldnt be upset with a true three down RB who can pass block, catch passes and is an actual threat in the redzone. It would take pressure off of the QB and hopefully allow us to become a more balance offense. I realize the defense needs ALOT of work, But im finding it hard to pencil in a DL at 17 unless we are going to a 4-3 defense., ILB we just dont do in the first round for some reason, and DB would depend on what we got. If we draft a CB at 17, I might take pause.

Oh id love a nice new 3 down rb too but just not in the 1st round. That's too pricey. DL id have to look more into who all could be there. And of course depends on who will actually be there when we're otc. And if trading down is an option.

I dont know man... RB might be the PBA at a position of need. Because we do need a RB better than Fat Rob. I think the kid is a solid change of pace guy. Matt Jones is also a change of pace back. We dont have a true work horse back. And most of the DL that will be there are a better fit for a 4-3, and Im so tired of us trying to MAKE a 4-3 DT into a NT and it failing.

It could be a the bpa at a position of need. I still wouldn't trade #17 for Bell, or DJ, or Zeke or whatever rb you wanna name.

What DL are you looking at that you don't think would fit?

IM a big fan of McDowell... but I dont think he is an NT/DT. He is a DT in a 4-3, but a DE in a 3-4. Most of the gus expected to be available are DE's in a 3-4 or DTs in a 4-3... but I simply dont see a true NT projected to be there at 17. Now I will say if Phil Taylor can be our NT, and we took McDowell to play DE in our system.... well that might give Viagra a run for its money. But I dont want to see us try to convert a 3-4 DE into an NT.... shades of Ziggy Hood come to mind.

What's wrong with a 3-4 DE at 17 though? I think I'd prefer that to a NT anyway.

NOw mind you,, if we some how managed McDowell at 17, and Brantley or Adams in the 2nd I can promise you my wife would walk like a duck for a week. LOL

I might even get excited if we came away with McDowell and Jaleel Johnson

Bro, Kizer & Mahommes might be left @17 i can see houston trading up. no way we are taking a QB unless you know what happens. back to this DL situation...they could have literally went boring and fixed the entire 3-4 in 3 rounds and spent that other money on a ILB. please hire me for a year, its not that hard

If we are drafting a QB at 17, we are well and truly screwed for another 5-7 years minimum. QB in 2017 means new coach in 2019. I like gruden, but I dont trust Bruce to get a QB that fits our offense.

Only problem with McDowell is it seems like he might need a good environment with good coaching to get the most out of him which Im not sure if youve noticed - doesnt often describe the situation here lol

A motivated McDowell and Brantley or Adams in the 2nd would be perfect - though I think all 3 will go in the 1st round.

So we might get one, if we draft him at 17.
