Depends which team exactly Moss is on, imo. At their best it's still Moss by a good margin for me.

Johnson.

Randy only ran a few routes. Of course he was unstoppable on them without safety help. But Calvin could split double teams better because he ran a wider array of routes.

Calvin was capable and willing to do more on the field. He also brought none of the negative franchise headache elements Moss brought.

I'm going Moss. He just played longer. I think Calvin could have really passed him up had he been able to stay healthier, but that's part of the decision. But, it's really splitting hairs. If you were taking either of these guys in their prime years, no one would be complaining. I just think, for me, in the end Moss was able to sustain a high level for longer.

Moss, and I think its a solid comp because both played with pretty average QB play, even if you factor in Tom Brady not being good at throwing accurately beyond 7 yards

Moss and it's not close. Best deep threat the game has ever seen. If he had played with the QB's and coaches Rice played with his numbers would be astronomical. Calvin Johnson is great but he's not a top 5 receiver all time.

He's also responsible for a certain catch rule...

Dez caught that fucking ball!!!

Moss and it isn't close.

If your are talking career, you got to take Moss but if Megatron played the same amount of time, that might be a different story. If you are talking a guy you would want on your team in his prime, I gotta take Megatron. Not only do I think he was better in his prime, he was easily a better teammate.

What part of "in their prime" is confusing to everyone?

Anywho, Megatron by a lot. Moss was a 1 trick pony and never had to deal with the triple teams CJ did. That fact alone should give you the answer. CJ also had horrible QBs for half his career and no run game ever.

Moss had the better career long term, but thats not the question.

This. Both are great but Randy was more of a deer, while Calvin is like a ... megatron.

Gotta go Moss. Part of two record setting offenses a decade apart. Touchdown maker in the way CJ never was close. Megatron in his prime I'd call a top 10 all timer. Maybe even top 5. But he was part of a HUGE volume passing attack.

OK, since I have to admit I failed the reading portion of this post, I still stick with Moss, but it's splitting hairs.

Pure talent--I would take Moss. The man was a man among boys. Yes he didn't run the route tree that Calvin did and yes he wasn't as physical but the things he could do just seemed out of this world compared to those around him.

If we factor in being a good teammate/locker room guy and things of that matter then I would probably take Calvin. He was one of those guys that not only had the physical gifts that players around the league wish they had but he also had the work ethic to go with it to make himself great.

:L Guess I should have read the question... I go Megatron then.
