I think he's better than Hernandez.

Ewww, Respectfully dis-agree.......Horrible Human issues aside, Hernandez was an absolute stud......Wide receiver skills in a TE body

Bennett is a much better blocker. He is waaay bigger and just as athletic, if not more.

I'd take Bennett over Hernandez any day, even if he wasn't a murderer.

Maybe a better blocker, Ill give you that, although hernandez had a good reputation blocking......
But Hernandez was a stretch the field TE like not many can......

We will see, cause the last time the Pats really successfully had 2 Tight Ends thrive in that offense, was the Gronk/Hernandez combo.....

check out the catch at 1:51 against the Pats.

Too bad it was like 50-0 at that point, but I digress..

I think they will run just like they did with Hernandez, or at least they should, and that's also if Brady doesn't shit the bed en sech

They have brought in other deep threats in the past that did not pan out either though. Brandon Lloyd not too long ago. Was known as a highlight catch guy that had speed to burn going deep. Chad Johnson was known as a deep threat as well. They drafted Aaron Dobson with that in mind that he could be that next Randy Moss type deep threat.

Brandon Lloyd had over 900 yards there and the season he was with different teams before and after he didn't do jack. It was the 2nd best season of his career in NE.

Chad Johnson was finished. He was only available for the Patriots because he was finished. He never had a good year again.

Dobson? He wasn't even really a deep threat at Marshall. Definitely not an NFL quality deep threat.

And other better attempts at evidence here?

Maybe next you'll throw Stallworth's name up there. Let me preempt you. He had a similar year in NE as he did the year before in Philly and then he didn't do anything anywhere else.

Bennett was basically a nobody when they Bears signed him, so they signed him at a cheap contract. He had a productive first year. His 2nd year, he "blew up". Had 90 receptions and led all TE's in that category. An argument could definitely be made that he had "outplayed his contract". So in his 3rd year (this last season) when he still wasn't given more money, he dogged it most the season.

He is a "head-case", but he is also a competitor (when happy). Him and Gronk in 2 TE sets is SCARY.

He is far superior to any 2nd TE they've ever had paired with Gronk.
No he wasn't a nobody. He was a well known guy known to have issues dedicating himself
Was 4 years and $20M a "cheap contract" for a TE in 2013?

If he is "far superior" to Hernandez you can almost pencil NE in the SB right now...but, he is nowhere near the player that Hernandez was on the field. Not even close...

Incorrect......As a matter of fact, Randy Moss is the ONE guy that has thrived as a deep threat in the Brady era.......And Randy Moss built a HOF career with Duante Culppeper and Randall Cunningham throwing him Hail Marys'........So when you can name more than one guy that has thrived in New England as a deep threat, Ill tell you what a smart move it is for a deep threat to sign there

You aren't as smart as cdumler and he's wrong, so somehow you're even wronger.

Yeah, Hernandez was killer in that move TE role.

Chad Johnson had 831 yards in 14 games the season before he headed to NE
He had 1047 yards the year prior to that

He had 276 yards in New England....Im sure it had nothing to do with the style of offense and the QB's ability to get the ball downfield

Brandon Lloyd had 1448 yards and 966 yards the 2 years prior to going to New England, with Kyle F**** Orton throwing him the ball

He than had 911 yards in New England...

So the worst of his last 3 seasons came in New England

So
yeah

Yeah, ive read your stuff, i know you love Tom Brady

Saying "Im right, your wrong" doesnt make it true

Especially when you post incorrect information like you just did about Lloyd and Chad Johnson

So you are going to look at stats to try and prove your point? Lloyd also had his lowest yards per catch in NE showing he was not being used as a deep threat option. He did alright running the shorter routes but it wasn't what he was brought in for. In fact he only had 2 catches the entire season that went for over 30 yards. Just because he had decent yards doesn't mean he was a great deep threat in NE. Look beyond just some numbers to see what the truth is.

How about this...How about you name one person other than Randy Moss that has been a great deep threat at the WR position for NE since Brady took over as the starter?

Yup, one doesnt exist

I could even go back to dish rags like Jabar Gaffney, who had his best seasons by far in Denver, the 3 years after he played in New England, and even his 4 years prior to that in Houston

We was a backup. Granted, it was to Witten, but at best, he was an up-and-comer. The Bears paid the going rate for an about-to-be "known" player. It certainly wasn't a top TE contract.

And forgive me for wording it the way I did..."far superior", I just think the dude's a beast. 6' 6", 280 and can run and catch like a WR.

The Pats will enjoy having him. That's all I was trying to convey.

No need to get bechy

No, the more important point should be "Who went to New England with a reputation as a great deep threat, and wasnt in New England?"

Theres a bunch of those

Ya know, thats how we started the conversation

NE tried to get a couple cheap ones at the end of their careers.

They don't put resources into it, therefore they don't have it.

They got Moss on the cheap, so that was one time that they actually had a deep threat because they had one for good value.
