Richard Sherman, shamed in his superbowl loss to the mighty Patriots, is on Bradys side.

...but what if the league just ligjtened up and brought the consequence more in line with the severity of the infraction and the precedent actions taken for similar stuff. Why is the league obligated to be so heavy handed?

Because the league is trying to get a cleaner image in the media and among fans. They don't want to turn into the MLB where they become the laughing stock with the whole Steroid era and having to go before congress. Unfortunately they are learning that going to the extreme opposite side can have negative ramifications as well.

The Garvey case may be the NFL's ace up their sleeve, but the NFLPA has one also.....

The CBA gives the Commissioner the authority to penalize players for conduct detrimental to league policies and guidelines. We've been hearing this almost daily...............here's the caveat...............

The CBA does not give the Commissioner the authority to designate someone else to penalize players. Only the Commissioner. According to Roger Goodell, he did not discuss Tom Brady's penalty with Troy Vincent. That is a violation of the CBA because the Commissioner did not penalize Brady in accordance with the CBA. If Goodell has lied and he did discuss the penalty with Vincent, then he violated the CBA by hearing Brady's Appeal because he could not do so and be unbiased.

I have a feeling that Judge Richard Berman has pretty much weighed a lot of stuff the we geniuses haven't even begun to consider.

The Redskins play their second preseason game Thursday night, and one battle to watch involves Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy for the No. 2 quarterback job. Cousins stood out versus Cleveland's second stringers last week; now McCoy gets his chance as the second man in after Robert Griffin III.

But he did confirm the suspension after the appeal, something which was agreed in the CBA that he can do. There is no way to confirm that Goodell discussed the punishment with Vincent, so whatever process was followed during and after that is according to the CBA.

It doesn't matter that he confirmed anything........Goodell violated the CBA when he ordered Vincent to penalize Brady........what is it about that, you don't understand.

He ordered Vincent to do it on Goodell's behalf if I remember right. Heck the letter sent to Brady reads that "The commissioner has authorized me to INFORM you of the discipline."

Oh look Peyton Manning with knowing how much the Patriots like to push the edge of legal wouldn't even talk about plays in the locker room when they visited Gillette Stadium because he thought the Patriots had bugged the visitors locker room. Even if not true should show just how much the rest of the league thinks of the Patriots and how they conduct themselves.

where'd this story come from?

Tony Dungy was talking about it recently. It was actually first reported clear back in 2010 that Manning thought the locker room in New England was bugged. There are stories of players who used to play for the Patriots going to their new teams and telling them to be careful what they said when they would go visit the Patriots.

It's probably one of the many stories about the Patriots; locker room bugged, helmet communication on, opposing teams communication snapped, etc. Not sure how much of that is true, but one has to wonder why are all the stories always linked to the Patriots.

Heading into their last day of practice this week before their second preseason game against San Diego, the Cardinals await the short-term fate of DLCorey Peters. He was carted off the field Wednesday with a lower-leg injury. With the news that LG Mike Iupati will miss six to eight weeks after knee surgery, Thursday will be the offensive line's first chance to practice knowing Iupati is for sure out.

Stinks for sure about Iupati. Thankfully it is not season ending. The Cardinals if they can stay healthy stand a chance to do some major damage this year and really push Seattle even for the division. Would hate to see Seattle just walk away with that division.
