What you had tonight was a team with a chance still to make the playoffs and just never gave up. The 49ers showed some really good things tonight but that fumble for a TD in their own end was a big mistake. Up 28-7 should be a win. Lots of injuries again tonight. Another weird game and another loss at home.

Frank Gore from the U...Awesome

Kap's long TD run was a breath of fresh air and should of happened more this year.

Cox played really well. Ellington showed some grit and good speed.

Just one of those games in the Perfect Storm Season. Hard to believe though how hard it has been to win games at home. Strange stuff.

Go 49ers !!

I was at the game...first half was a beauty...then Roman shoved his head up his ass again...I knew when the Chargers got to 21 we were in trouble with our D so ripped up. It was a hard loss...but I stood over the players tunnel and screamed I'll see you boys next year in the playoffs. No names named...quite a few smiled and gave thumbs up...I did have been drunk with an ugly X-Mas sweater on so that may have helped.

So I guess it was time for the defense to lay an egg :(
We just cant have both sides show up to play a full game this year. On the bright side we're still winning the NFC South.

I feel like I've watched this movie before where we lead at half time and then get dominated in the second half. Oh well. I can't help but think that the coaching staff and many players have mentally checked out under the circumstances and that this was the reason for the poor performance today.

Relax. I know Brasky is an asshole, but that's true about 99% of the posters on the Hoop. I don't see anything bad in his comments. Maybe it wasn't really a good game quality-wise, but it was a close game, and perhaps that's all that he meant.

Just got to regroup for next season. The towel was already thrown in for this season before this game. The bright side is the higher draft position. I don't know if we could even beat anyone in the NFC South in our current sad state. We've gotten worse as the season has gone along, so much so that we lost to the Raiders. We did have some nice flashes of good play in this game, but obviously, more consistency is needed. Harbaugh probably deserved better, but it is also obvious that coaching changes are needed.

Really, all you can do is laugh. Call me a shatter if you like, but at the half, I said to myself "how are they going to blow this one?"

I got my answer.

The Niners just can't get out of their own way this whole season. We had two TD's called back today on penalties. The first one didn't hurt us because we scored a TD anyway on that drive, but the second one was a microcosm of this season. Just when it looked like VD would finally do something this season, we commit penalties on that play. Fittingly Kaep fumbles and gifts a TD to the Chargers on the next play. Nice 14-point swing there.

I don't agree on a coaching change still. I think that would do a lot more harm to this team than good. When you look across the NFL at some of the Super Bowl winners over the last decade they all have coaches that have been there for awhile.

It's one bad season honestly Harbaugh has more than earned having 1 bad season. We get a higher draft pick, probably an easier schedule, and hopefully a healthy and not suspending roster going into next year. Should lead to good things.

I hope he wasn't serious. I genuinely gave an e-handshake. I respect the shit out of this Niners forum.

Just a bad season all around. One thing is for sure. This won't be a boring offseason. Hope to see the team back next season. Bowman, WIllis, etc. The next HC coach will be huge. No Tomsula

I was at an xmas party but I was able to see most of the game there. Am I the only one who was actively rooting for us to lose?

I thought this game was perfect. Our younger guys got some experience, we actually showed some life on offense, and we will get a higher draft pick as a result of this game.

No, you are not the only one hoping for them to lose. There are a few others rooting for a loss. I found myself enjoying the game a bit more as the really wasn't anything to lose in the game. I went into the game wanting to see Patton and Ellington. I knew going in the D would be vulnerable going into the game. No surprise the Chargers started picking on Cromartie, our practice squad CB when Cox was down.

It would behoove the Niners to keep Harbaugh, but a conflict exist between him and the front office. Does Harbaugh even want to stay? Does Jed want Harbaugh to be the coach? Do you think both sides can continue this path and achieve success? I think that's doubtful, therefore it would be better for both parties to go on their separate ways.
