I am going to state that keeping this as a yearlong game thread is gonna suck ass...when I come to the boards I love seeing a game specific thread from beginning to end...when you roll it into one long thread...I will not be able to do that since who would know where/when it starts on page (X) of some infinite number of pages...please reconsider:noidea:

You might have a point scouty, maybe a year long thread could be a bit much. Last season I tried doing game threads & a lot of them ended up empty so I figured this would work better for our forum, but maybe we could try going back to individual game threads? Is it cool if we could experiment with this & see how it goes? If it gets to bee too much we could try going back to the old way.

Really depends on how the forum feels as a whole, I'm game for whatever :suds:

On the Pirates board, we did series threads to cut down on bulk. Now, those set themselves up naturally, unlike in hockey, but maybe we could do weekly threads or something.

Good suggestion, a weekly thread might work well.

It's the corporate crowd in some regards, priced out a lot of fans at this point. The lower bowl is full of season tickets owned by companies, they give them out for free to their employees, no skin in the game. It's easy to leave early when you spent the entire night watching the game on TV in the captain morgan club.

Yeah very true. The one time I got free tickets from work was in the Igloo down in the club seats (god I forget what they called those now!) and we stayed until the end but our row was empty come mid third period. The only reason I remember my youngest at the time was still young and observant said to me why are all these folks leaving, aren't they fans?

Would anyone like to do the pregame for tomorrow's game against the Maple Leafs? I figure we could keep this thread rolling till Sunday, then start a week 2, 3, 4,... version every Monday.

Game 2: Pittsburgh Penguins @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Where: Air Canada Centre, Toronto ON
When: 6:00pm EST

Pittsburgh Penguins
Record: 1-0-0
Road: 0-0-0
GFA: 6.00
GAA: 4.00
PP%: 25%
PK%: 50%
Projected lineup: NHL Starting Goalies and Line Combinations | DailyFaceoff.com

Toronto Maple Leafs
Record: 0-1-0
Home: 0-1-0
GFA: 3.00
GAA: 4.00
PP%: 33.3%
PK%: 100%
Projected lineup: NHL Starting Goalies and Line Combinations | DailyFaceoff.com

Doob's view: Pens are coming off an exciting 6-4 win over the Ducks in their season/home, but the defense and goaltending needs to improve, giving up hat tricks is unacceptable. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs are coming off 1 goal loss in their season/home opener where they gave up the GWG with less than 1 minute remaining in regulation. Maple Leafs are a very aggressive team, so keeping turnovers to a minimal is key.

Let's hope they could take this one and go 2-0!

I liked the way the lines were set up and the defensive parings for the first game, I hope they stay that way. I thought Scuderi did well, for the most part. The only D man I didn't like was Ehrhoff. He was out of position a lot and gave up a huge turnover in the Penguin zone which lead to a penalty and the first Duck goal. Gotta work on the PK and PP too.

What a great sports day for me...get to watch the Pens and my Cardinals!
Scuds still sucks and Erhoff is crap.
PP and PK will take time, as will Malkin.
Great to see Duper back...dude was sorely missed during last year's playoff abomination.
SID looks dominant...look out league!

Let's go Pens!

Let's go Cards!:suds:

Guins vs Leafs, I see the Guins taking this one pretty easily. Sid nets 2 & MAF gets an assist (would be great to see him score tonight). :suds:

Good luck tonight & have fun!

Sid averages 1.56 points per game against the Leafs and Geno averages 1.81 points per game against the Leafs. Let's hope they could add to that rate tonight!

BTW...don't the Canadians know that the plural of "leaf" is "leaves?"

Almost as annoying as baseball announcers saying that a batter "flyed" out.

Toronto Maple Leaves
That would confuse the Canadiens eh! They would be wondering where the Toronto Maple left to eh. :noidea:
