Yes, let's judge schedules a week into the season... Because if past seasons have shown us anything, it's that rankings are NOT fluid and stay relatively intact most of the year...

PS. I know Auburn and TEH SEC have tough in conference schedules...

if they are always so overrated, why do they do so well in bowl games?

last year it was texas a&m that had no business being ranked, right? then the 4th best team in the SEC West beat a ranked Duke team that played for the ACC title.

seriously, tell me what teams last season finished the season ranked that didn't deserve it. i'd love to hear the teams you'd put above them and then we can objectively compare their resumes.

1 week into the season is hard to gauge much. i guess you could argue south carolina shouldn't be ranked, but if south carolina was playing other fringe top 25 teams on a neutral field, do you really think south carolina would be a big underdog? they will either justify their ranking in the next 2 weeks or be out of the polls, so i really don't see what people are so bent out of shape about.

that means for auburn to win the national title they will need to win at least 3 of those, and then an SEC title game, and then 2 more games against top 4 teams.

the road to the national title is MUCH tougher down south than elsewhere.

doesn't every big 12 team play Iowa State and Kansas as part of their grueing conference schedule? Isn't that like having 2 extra FCS opponents on the schedule?

You mean how many years does the SEC stay ranked even though they lost or are obviously over rated? Pac plays each other one more game so 6 more losses to pass around while SEC teams (most) don't travel and play a cupcake trucking school at the beginning of the season then one in November when every other conference is playing a rival. Dont get me wrong . Bama and Auburn have had great teams but the advantage of being in that conference and the weak scheduling makes it hard for other teams to complete. I know USC would benefit if they could play Azuza pacific in November.

Wasn't there a Pac-12 team a few years ago that started the year at #1...then managed to stay ranked loss after loss...finally dropping out of the top 25 after their 4th or 5th loss...hmmm does anybody recall what team that was? How quickly we forget 2012.

I can accept an argument about poll bias from just about any fanbase...except USC. You whiny bitches have had a free ride since they invented the damn polls. Don't get me wrong USC has had some great teams, but they get the advantage of being USC in the PAC-12...

And here's a news flash for you...you and every other PAC-12 team can play whomever they would like in November. Any scheduling issue you have is self-imposed.

alabama finished #8 i believe. about where they belonged. do you really think they weren't one of the 25 best teams?

can't base entire seasons on 1 game. you know they shut out ole miss, a team that blew out texas. oklahoma blew out texas too, didn't they?

really? kentucky has been to 5 bowl games since 2006. kansas has been to 4 since 1996. vanderbilt has won 3 bowl games since 2008.

and yes, these are the 2 worst programs in the SEC, yet they are still better than kansas. far better than kansas. they play a tougher schedule and still win more games.

and incidentally, every team in the SEC doesn't play these two teams every year. auburn plays neither this year.
