I am a bandwagon fan in a since. I root for the Orange only cause I live here now. I've never been to college, so I really don't have that alumni type love for them. I moved here in the mid 80's and have been an Orange fan since I moved here.

Should I leave Clayton, NY, I would most likely take up fandome with the D1 school that has a football and bball program in that area.

"the Authority" has given you a pass in case you want to be an ND fan. (regardless of where you move)

At first I would say neither but the brass tax is that it depends on the circumstances for Fan B.

I would be fine with Fan B if he didn't just select his team because they were winners at the time and he needed to fill a void.

Wow!!! What child doesnt do that?? Not sure about you but when i was a young kid i did not really understand sports, so i was a fan of the team that i heard the most about... Whether it was Michael Jordan and the Bulls, or the Cowboys, or the Montreal canadians...

I was a huge bulls fan when i was a kid, but most of us were because michael was the hottest thing... He even starred in his own movie...

how can you make this list and not include the yankees and, to a lesser extent, the red sox?

Just a passing thought. I agree completely though.

You have to add the Patriots, Lakers and Heat.

I find bandwagon Patriots fans to be the lowest form of sports fan on earth.

It doesn't matter, however, I am allowed to point out how lame I think certain people are based on how they became a fan. That is my right.

so do you think my 7 year old self was lame in 1991 when I thought Damon Stoudamire was the coolest and I wanted to be just like him?

I noticed it. :lame:

I rarely even use the word "We" and me and my entire family went to the school I root for.

You just explained why this thread and all of your opinions are worthless.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh how I hate Ohio State

My opinion on this doesn't apply to Pro sports. I have stated that already.

I don't quite understand rooting for a team based on one player.

If Damon had transferred would you have transferred teams?

Where you a fan of his Turkish league team too?

phashion trumps phandom - with risks...

When i went to philadelphia a couple years ago i went to Mitchell and ness, I almost Bought a chicago whitesox Jacket because i thought it was awsome... Couldnt do it since i am a yankee fan and not exactly a whitesox fan, but i thought the jacket was awsome... If it was only a tshirt or uniform i would have bought it... So to some extent i do think uniforms might be worn just because someone thinks it is cool... and if that team is playing that day, of course you would where that teams jerzee...

was a volunteer during the 1996 Summer Olympics in ATL...by the end of the games I had traded-out my uniform & volunteer shit (watch, pins, etc) to ferners for their shit. My 'official volunteer' hat fetched a killer Papua/New Guinea Sailing Team Olympic shirt right off the sailor's back (the coat of arms/emblem, alone, was magnificent.)

I wore the shirt a couple of years ago stumbling around in Port Huron, MI during the Mackinaw Sailboat race festivities. While quaffing at the Bell's Beer tent, a big ol dude came up to me and started haranguing me about my shirt.

:omg::wtf2:

Turns out the guy was a member of the 1996 Australian Olympic Sailing team...said the PNG team didn't even compete in those games; that the PNG 'team' was nothing more than a clique of expatriate Aussie assholes who couldn't make the Australian team; that the IOC canned them in Savannah just as they were launching.
:laugh3:

He lightened up when I told him how I'd gotten the shirt; bought me an Oberon, and we both laughed the whole episode off.

lesson: some people take their phanning pretty phuckn seriously.

My brother is a Michigan fan because he loved Jalen Rose/Fab Five. He is just as diehard about them as me, and he went to Boston University not Michigan. I grew up with the proper hatred for Ohio State. Plus I have extensive experience with Ohio State grads and they are on average not very smart.

Aka your family likely isn't smart (we already knew YOU aren't, but we had no idea how deep it ran until you told us that everyone graduated from that POS school)
