He didn't develop AJ. He's only been around for 2 years, AJ already had 2 national championship rings(1 as a starter) before he even came to Alabama.

Nevermind that AJ is so far ahead talent wise than your QB's it's not even funny.

Don't pretend Nussmeier isn't a good coach. It makes you look like a child. McCarron had his best seasons under Nussmeier. So he didn't develop him straight out of high school (I'll give you that) but he definitely developed him further, which helped him set school records. Alabama's offense, the last two seasons, has kicked ass. It's your defense that let you down against Texas A&M, Auburn (with a touch of special teams) and Oklahoma.

Hoke wants to implement the same style of offense that Bama runs. As long as Nussmeier continues to recruit talent and develop QBs, we'll be set for many years.

He absolutely developed AJ. Before Nuss arrrived, Alabama's QBs were glorified game managers whose job was nothing but short passes and handing off the ball to running backs. Nuss is without a doubt one of the best QB developers in the college game. He did wonders with making AJ look like an actual QB, instead of a game manager.

The 2011 Nat Championship season for Bama, your Defense was ranked #1 in conference and nationally. Your defense was ranked 1st in all 4 of the major team defensive categories. Your offense? Trent Richardson ran for 1,679 yds and 21 TDs. Your passing attack? Ranked 69th in the NCAA that year and AJ passed for 16TDs. Now because of Bama's emphasis on D first, it's not uncommon for your offense to be ranked nationally like that during NC years. That's typical for most SEC teams. But....

"On January 18, 2012, Nussmeier was announced as the new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide, replacing outgoing coordinator Jim McElwain. Under his guidance, junior quarterback A. J. McCarron set the school record for touchdowns in a season with 26. McCarron threw an additional four touchdowns in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game against Notre Dame in a 42–14 victory, which allowed McCarron to set another school record for career touchdown passes."

In 2011, AJ McCarron was not named to either the AP All-SEC first or second teams. In 2012, he lead the nation in pass efficency and was named to the AP & coaches All-SEC second team.

This is a total coup for Michigan to land him. Watch their QB performance stats increase dramatically in 2014. But it appears by this move that it's Saban's plan to go back to running the ball 80% of the time and QBs as game managers, then Nuss's talents would be wasted at Bama and it's best all around this happened.

Hey, that's fine if Saban wants Kiffin but Nussmeier will continue to succeed.

Saban hasn't hired Kiffin, and Nussmeier isn't a bad OC, just not for Bama. We want to run the ball down teams throats and then run play-action. Nuss is too pass happy. It just wasn't a good fit and the fans have been letting them hear it.

Out of high school, Gardner as a dual threat and Morris with that fucking cannon, yes. We'll see what Nussmeier can do with them.

The fans should be all over Saban and Smart then as well. Your offense has been rolling. Look at the last 3 games you lost.

Well I can tell you already that Gardner and Speight ain't. Shane Morris has the most potential.

McCarron's been on better teams with better coaches. We'll see what happens once Michigan gets a taste of that.

As far as raw talent is concerned both Gardner and Morris >> McCarron. Speight lacks athleticism and great arm strength but looks like a smart, accurate passer a la McCarron. But no, I honestly don't think Speight will ever develop into much more than a serviceable back-up. He does have a lower ceiling.

The reason we are not all over Saban and Smart is because we know the injuries and lack of experience we are dealing with on the defensive side of the ball. We fully expect to be back to the old defense next season, if not, then we'll get pissed.

A couple of observations:

1. These are the types of things that disrupt successful programs. Like when Mullen and Strong left UF. I've been saying it would take a coaching change, QBs under performing, and a run of normal luck to derail Bama. I was thinking Saban, not OC, but again these are the types of changes you just don't know what you are going to get.

2. I think Bama fans that are thinking along the lines of "glad to see him go" are reacting to the 2 losses. There is no question he as a good OC, and there is no guarantee you will get one as good or better. That's just the way it is.

3. I think UM fans are irrational if you think any of the Bama recruits will follow the OC to UM. They are going to Bama because it is fricking Bama. They aren't going to go freeze their balls off because the OC left. And, if they don't like the OC you might see them switch to Auburn who is crazy O oriented right now.

4. My teams (UGa and Vandy) both might have some instability coming up. It seems for sure that Franklin is gone. He almost has to at this point. Interviewing for every job available won't help him recruit. And, there is a rumor that UGa OC Bobo might be interested in the Ga Southern job. They move up to BCS next year, and all OCs want to be HCs at some point in time.

That is all.

Scoring more offensive points while the defense is in this "predicament" only bodes well for the OC. Or so you would think. But hey, if Bama is willing to give up a great recruiter/QB coach/OC, Michigan will gladly accept him.
