1. Big 12 was garbage this yr. Great!! Lets reward the fireman, even if he happens to be the arsonist.

2. Really? Strip club? It doesnt even register on the blotter of most schools.

1. It doesnt matter he was still one game away from winning!!!

2. Does Mack Brown attend strip clubs? Does Nick Saban? Does Barack Obama? Even if he wanted to get his jewels off.. Hes a millionaire!! Put a strip pole in your basement and pay for a few hoes to dance and entertain in the privacy of your own home.. Save the embarrassment from a Public State Institution official going to a seedy strip bar!!

Funny. Texas fans are tough. Did Texas ever fire anyone 1 yr removed from a 10 win season? Did Texas ever ruin a mans career after a trip to a strip club?

You mean Mike Shula who was 26-23 in four years at Alabama and never higher than third in the SEC West. The same Mike Shula who had two 6-6 seasons and a 10-2 season as his only shining moments in four years.

And Mike Price ruined his own career with his stripper party on the company credit card. alcoholics can do stupid things like that, so blaming the University for his mistakes is a big stretch in my opinion. i would have been pissed as a fan if they hadnt done something drastic to the man, he was a low life who deserved all that he got.

I was think DuBose. Always the Ray Perkins story. Bill Curry story. Mike Price is a low life? Kind of harsh over a night at a strip club. I saw nothing of spending university money. There was a nice bit about strippers yelling "Roll Tide" and Price responding "its rolling, Baby"..

Shula's 10 win season didn't mean shit because of his record against Auburn. You can't lose to Auburn every year and expect to keep your job at Alabama. Never has been acceptable, never will be.

If Saban goes 11-1 with the 1 loss being to Auburn over the next 3 years, he'll be gone too.

Mack is 6-9 vs OU, but again it is Texas fans that have the unreal expectations.

On the flip side, Shula could have went 7-5 every year and as long as he had beat Auburn every year he'd still be here.

Well maybe the fact he never beat his rival was part of it. That's kind of important down here. He was also never a popular pick, coming from Georgia Tech, a hated Alabama rival in the early years. Concerning Mike Price, if Alabama had not had so much happen in recent years leading up to that they probably would not have let him go but they could not afford another black eye. They were praised for that decision. He also had other chances after that but didn't win so maybe he ruined his own career? Statements on there own are just words. Tell a little more of the story next time.

I seriously doubt that, but Bill Curry would concur with your Auburn pt.

Assumed you know the story. You have to admit it is a bit ironic Bama fired him after a strip club, because they had little tolerance after being caught cheating.

I thought you were talking about Bill Curry on the 10 win season (1989), Shula was nothing but an intermediate coach who would never and I repeat never been hired by Alabama except for the heavy sanctions and the short time period after the Price debacle. He wasn't qualified. He should be grateful he even got the chance. Most Alabama fans appreciate what he did during that time period!

When you say they you say it like the President, board, coaches, etc all cheated. The President made the decision and pretty sure he had not cheated so no irony there. It's called a rogue booster. I doubt UT has any!

Why would you say that? Curry NEVER beat Auburn so why would you doubt he would concur to a point about beating Auburn and still being the coach?

DuBose was not a good coach really. He was 24-23 in four years and actually resigned to mal moore in the middle of that season, but Mal refused to accept it hoping Dubose might turn the season around. He tried to give every opportunity to the guy.

Ray was not a good fit and Bear did not recommend him before he left, he told them Stallings was the right coach for the job, but the admin wanted Perkins. Perkins did an ok job, but never won the SEC in his four years. He left on his own for Tampa Bay.

Bill curry was not an Alabama guy but did a respectable job. Which is why Alabama has done so much for Georgia State while he was at the school as HC. this is the one bad spot in Alabama history as he was a pretty solid coach, but just not an Alabama guy and that irked some faithful, plus he could not beat Auburn. This is a sin at Alabama, but he still left on his own accord, he wasnt fired.

Mike Price was the architect of his own demise. Being the coach of a school in the bible belt, having strippers and room charges(paid for by the University) on your tab and making a public spectacle of your self like that while being married, is nothing short of a scandal that doesnt fly in the south and especially for atop name university and its coach. He got what was coming to him. The room was being paid for by the university, as well as his expense account for the trip since it was all part of a publicity tour and golf tournament. Sometimes you have to learn to keep it hidden, or keep it in your pants. He could do neither.

Simply pointing out that it seems odd that Bama fans are criticizing Texas for moving on. After Mack racked up the first 4 yr stretch of 4 or more loses in Texas history. 1-3 vs OU. 2 of those losses being in the top 5 all-time widest margin of losses in the history of the program. 30 -20 record his last 4 yrs vs 30-18-1 for his predecessor. Mack is also 1 game above .500 in the Big 12 over the last 4 yrs. Those are some pretty bleak stats.

The stripper got the credit card and racked up charges on the UNIVERSITY CARD! And yes that is a pretty shitty image you don't want your University represented by. Pretty sure several coaches have been fired from drunken episodes much less with strippers and sex! Again statements are words. Tell the entire story Codaxx, if you know it, and if you don't, don't comment! :noidea:

In his entire career, he was 0-12 against them at various schools.

Funny thing is only Price and Shula were fired, the rest left on their own including DuBose. He was let go by the school, but had tried to resign earlier in the season and Mal denied his request to resign hoping DuBose would turn it around. He didnt and they allowed him to resign at the end of the year. That team had high expectations and got nowhere that year.

Bama fans or one or two in here? I haven't said anything about that. You including everyone based on a few?
