All three of Buzz's 2015 commits are now signed.

Buzz Williams is a miracle worker. Our classes are now 23rd and 18th on 24/7. This for a team which had recruited 63 and 87 under JJ. A team which has finished in the basement of the ACC 3 straight years. I continue to be amazed at what he has done in < 6 months before a single ball has been tipped off. The man has virtually earned his pay before a single game has been played. His ability to re-energize VT basketball is amazing.

And then I go read TSL and see Rev Zeke say it is "a solid class". And there is the chirping about a missed recruit. Is there some parallel pot-smoking universe at TSL where VT basketball is historically good??? I was in Bburg the Frankie Allen "Bimbo Thumbs Up" era, the Bill Foster era of boring but well-coached basketball where we won the NIT, then followed the Bobby "you sir are no Bill Foster" Hussey era, SMH at Ricky "never made Big East Tourney in his coaching career" Stokes, and saw a competitive but only modestly successful in the postseason near decade with Seth, and then the dumpster fire of JJ. That is one NCAA appearance every decade. WTF TSL? Buzz recruits back to back top-25 classes and the talk is who we missed on and how he's done a "solid" job? The guy has so far surpassed anything I have witnessed in 25 years it almost isn't funny and I'm reading how it is a solid job so far but he can't afford to slip up.

Totally agree. Consecutive top 20 classes is much more than I could have asked for. And missing out on another recruit? I would care more if we weren't already 1-over the scholly limit for 2015 already

LOL. He's a scout with an interest in VT and that was a compliment. See below.

.November 13, 2014

Yeah. I'd say it is a "solid class" by almost anyone's standards. For VT considering the circumstances it is an awesome class. Addressed some needs, reeled in the #1 player in the state, and got 2 Boo Williams guys. Couldn't imagine a much better start from Buzz. I'm not sure who we missed on, but like yall I'm not worried about it considering our numbers.

Looking forward to watching the game tonight. Not expecting too much from this season, but I think VT basketball only goes up from here.

This is why I was on Cloud 10 (fuck Cloud 9. I'm on another level!) when we hired him. Basketball is the sport I like most but I never thought VT ever really invested much in the program. Given our geographical region, I knew we could be a good program if anyone ever bothered to try. Well Whit definitely announced to the world he's going to try when he got Buzz Williams. Look at how much he's already done. I'm very excited for the future.

I understand their concern injury wise but he's gonna play ball whether its for Buzz or on intramurals. He could get hurt against Duke just as easily as he could dunking on some poor engineering major in McComas

I think we got a good one coming in Justin Robinson. He got a TON of praise on twitter for his performance today. He had 31 points in a loss. Also found this funny:

Pretty fun to watch Buzz Williams complain to refs from the stands like he's already coaching Justin Robinson during OT here at DeMatha.
— Hokies Journal (@HokiesJournal) December 14, 2014

This is...interesting. Neither one of these guys is over 6'6.

Virginia Tech has offered Bryce Jones and Leroy "Truck" Fludd of Jones County JC. We're out of schollys. Buzz must be anticipating attrition.

"He demonstrated a lack of discipline and self-control at practice and as such this suspension was warranted."

Don't know what he did at practice but regardless, I'm pretty disappointed in JVZ that he'd do something to get suspended. We weren't going to win much this year anyway but Joey was the one player we absolutely could not afford to lose. It wasn't just because he was one of the few players we had that is tall, but he's also experienced and his skillset had evolved enough to where he was a key piece to how Buzz likes to play basketball. If he's done with the program for good, it's a real possibility we won't win another game this season. Granted win/loss record isn't all that important this year, but its still nice to win a couple of games so the players have something tangible to validate their improvements. Hopefully this is just a big wake up call to Joey and everyone else on the roster that Buzz don't fuck around and that a remorseful Joey will be back on the team in a couple of weeks.

If you're looking for positives, it means Pierce will get more time now and maybe that will speed up his development. He's incredibly raw and you can tell the game is moving to fast for him right now, a common thing for freshman bigs. Hopefully he can learn to swim because he's getting tossed into the deep end with no floaties.

I'm certainly not going to miss JVZ's complete inability to hit a free throw.
